    Hiya!
I am wanting to get a headstart this year for a costumer to haunt in.
I have never worked with prosthetics, but i love the idea of being able to freely move and look more 'natural' when I scare.

Have you tried any prosthetic pieces?
If so, where did you get them?
    Were they easy to apply?
    What are the pros/cons ?

I would say that the biggest con that I have is not having someone who would be able to apply the makeup to me with it on... is this something I could do by myself?

Would you recommend a Silicone mask instead?

    Thanks for the help!

I am currently studying to become a special effects make up artist. I am a novice but have been reading a lot so i might be able to help you. Question : what is your costume? how much are you willing to spend? how realistic are you looking to be? Do you want a full facial pros or just a few and make up to cover the rest? I went to Trans World last year and still have a lot of catalogs and cards if you would like. And once you get your prosthetic there are a lot of tutorials on you tube to help. Hope that helped a little

    Hi Dani!
    Thanks for the reply!
I don't have a costume yet, I just want something light so that I can scare at the haunt I work at.
I would like it to be something realistic looking... like a demon, zombie, ghoul... and I would really like full articulation of my mouth.
I looked up silicone masks online yesterday, and they are REALLY expensive... so I am thinking either foam latex or partial prosthetics.
I am thinking that a partial prosthetic with makeup application would be the most realistic.

I have seen various degrees of quality in foam latex masks, but I think that in general, people just don't take the time to attach them to their faces with liquid latex.

Based on that, do you have any recommendations of places/prosthetics I should start looking at?

    Thanks Again!

Out of the info I have CFX ( comositeeffects) looks the best. They run around 50 and sell adhesive and remover seperate. There is also Four finger effects and Trick or treat studios but I don't have prices for them. If you happened to be going to trans world or midwestern haunters convention this year you can get a dicount. You could also check out the effectslab forum, it's a forum for fx makeup artist. I hope this helps, wish you lived aound here cause i could use you as my model for my dick smith class and let you keep it. Good Luck!!
