Hello! I am so glad that there is a forum for this type of stuff.
Okay moving on...I have recently read this topic from this site: See-Thru Fabric for mask?. It helped me solve half of my predicament.
My mask isn't really a mask, it's more like a head piece. What I will be wearing is a gutted old white HP computer monitor. Since there is no glass, I was wondering what fabric to use (which was answered from the thread mentioned above).
Tulle, Scrim, Sheer, and Gauze. They all look and sound like they would be great.
But here is where the rest of my problem lies: That stuff is great for masks, as your eyes (or your whole face in general) will be right up against the fabric and should be no problem to be able to see through it.
I was wondering would I be able to see through the fabric if my face isn't directly up against it.
If you are having trouble on figuring out what I'm talking about how far my face would be, this picture will help envision the placement of the head.
Here's what I hope I can do.

Try Speaker Cloth..........available at any fabric store, contains lycra to stretch and is loosely woven.
Another would be privacy screen from a home improvement store, its a tighter weave than standard insect screen.
EDIT.... or black pantyhose..... Since the housing is obviously vented..... I'd personally use tinted plexiglass if realism is a factor.
Hope it helps.

Hey, thanks. I'll see what they have after today's class. I was suggested to try tulle from multiple people around my dorm. I'll ask about speaker cloth first though.
