So this year, I came up with the crazy notion of being Justin Zombieber for Halloween. Part of my costume involves a microphone coming out of my forehead, something along the lines of what happened to Seth Green in Idlehands. Anyway, I was wondering what would I need to do in order to make the microphone piece ahead of time? I've got liquid latex, a fake microphone, toilet paper, and spirit gum. Could I make the piece on some waxed paper and then use spirit gum to apply it to my forehead? Any suggestions are appreciated!
You could definitely make it beforehand. The only problem I see of doing it before hand is not knowing if the microphone will stay put. Just make sure you make the microphone as light as possible, or else it may be falling off your head all night.
Thanks for the reply! The microphone is one of those prop microphones from Halloween City so it's not heavy at all. I think I read somewhere that making the appliance on top of waxpaper works best. Is that true? Obviously, this is my first attempt at something like this so any tips you can share would be awesome.
That's good. You may want to test sticking the microphone to your head, make sure the spirit gum is strong enough for it. Wax paper is best, but you can also use plastic wrap. If you can, you should try to get some nose and scar wax, for the skin around the microphone. It allows you to get a much smoother, more skin like look then toilet paper and liquid latex can. It's a lot easier to blend.
If that doesn't work you can always use a wide head band and cut the microphone in half(if possible) and hot glue it to the headband. You can always disguise the head band with lots of blood. I hope you post a pic, i would love to see your finished product.
That idea was tossed around too but after seeing all the great work on this site, I decided that I wanted to try my hand at making it using liquid latex. If it doesn't turn out, I'll use the headband as a "Plan B". Either way, I'll definitely post pics.
