So earlier this year i got this:

and now I want to be one of the Ghostbusters for Halloween.
Constructive ideas on how to make the rest of the costume? The proton pack is really the hardest part, so at least I have that out of the way!

I did a GB costume a few years ago. I made a proton pack using a cardboard box spraypainted black with a bunch of various knobs and wires, and used a toy lightsaber (sheathed) as the "gun" part of the pack. Looked good. Also made a trap out of a box and yellow electrical tape. For the uniform I wore Khakis and bought a khaki shirt, then a made a GB patch for the arm and a Venkman patch for the name tag area by painting on an old sheet or tshirt and sewing the patches on. The whole thing won me first place. I know it sounds ghetto, but I think it looked really good. Don't have any pics right now, but if I dig one up, I'll post it or link to it.

That proton pack is a work of art. How many hours do you have in it?
