I came across one of my old wigs in storage, which I could use this year; however it has somehow got so badly tangled, and I don't want to risk wrecking it!! It's not real human hair if that helps. it's just a general 'halloween' wig.
Who better to ask than my Halloween buddies who love dressing up!?

There's a spray called "Syn Wig" Detangler by Jon Reneau. It's a pink liquid, comes in a clear bottle.

Also, be sure to use a metal wig brush, and start working the tangles from the bottom up. Good luck!

Pin it to a Styrofoam head (or even better a plastic-covered canvas wig block) and wash it with shampoo and conditioner. Then begin brushing it, starting at the tips and working your way gradually to the root end. This will take time, but with patience you will work out all of the tangles.

Thanks for the tips! I ended up buying a new one anyway, but now at least I know what to do; and I don't have to throw the old one away! In future, I'll be more cautious as to how I store them

When you're done with the new one, give it a good brushing, then turn it inside out and store it in a gallon Ziploc bag with the air squeezed out. You can also store it on a Styrofoam head if you have the space.

I use Bio-Silk (you can get it at CVS) just rub the wig down with it and a comb or brush slides through it like butter! makes it shiney, manageable and smells great
