Hey, I' ve got an idea for a costume that I think would be really fun, but it hinges entirely on face paint that stays on all night and doesn't crack or come off even when eating or drinking. I've found tons of water based face paints (seems like these will come off very easily!) but I'm just not sure what brand or type of paint is the best. I would need enough to cover two full faces, but we're not painting bodies or hands or anything. It's a pretty cheap costume, so I don't mind springing for higher quality paints to make the illusion last.

What would you guys recommend? Brands, types, sizes, all suggestions are welcome. Thank you!!!

Hmm. I've always had good luck with the face paint from Michael's Craft Stores. They aren't 'Halloween-themed' but work just the same! Use a coupon and you'll get a great deal!

I recommend Ben Nye water based makeups like Lumiere and such. Set that with their "Final Seal" and you've got a look that won't wash off until you scrub at it in the shower.

Much better suggestion than me. The Michael's face paint washes off easily, but stays on unless deliberately wiping off with baby wipes. I'd go with piraticalstyle's suggestion! Sounds better for your needs.

Husband and I had great luck two years ago with Ben Nye makeup for zombie costumes. Here is the link to download their catalog:

I especially liked how you could order one single color or a wheel of multiple colors for shading/details (I think we went with "corpse" or something similar and "master bruise wheel"). It's a little bit more expensive than what you'll spend at Spirit, but this stuff is theater-grade and did not come off at all, especially if you use their "final seal".

Alcohol based makeup lasts, though it's pricey.

Ben Nye and Wolfe FX are good brands that don't seem to run. I've been impressed with how opaque and bright the Wolfe FX's white has been. Of course hairspray will help seal them all.

I'd avoid Kryolan's Aquacolors, they tend to be translucent.
