Hi guys. I know we've got people on here from a number of different countries and I just wondered what costume traditions you have in your country?
For example, I don't know if many Americans know this, but here in England you can't just wear whatever you want on Hallowe'en. You have to dress as something scary or Hallowe'eny. It would be very strange to a Brit if someone was out on Hallowe'en dressed as, say, Homer Simpson. Here, the costume has to fit the Hallowe'en theme. So popular costumes here are things like ghosts, zombies, vampires, black cats, witches, etc.
What's the tradition where you are from?![]()

Hey there Lea!! Here in Mexico is somewhat like US (probably 'cause of the countries proximity... beats me!!), people dress up with something not necessarily scary. I've seen some super hero costume, or mexican wrestler masks. I personally go with the scary stuff!!

Here in north america (canada/us) The tradition seems to be...
Whatever's hot on t.v. is mass marketed in the stores. For example, this year I expect to see a lot of thors, transformers etc.
As for student costumes (high school/college/university,) Halloween seems a good excuse for girls to dress sexy/ sleezey.
Ie. sexy bo peeps, french maids, sexy red riding hoods etc, etc seem to litter the bars and halloween parties.
I'd be willing to guess, 80% (maybe more) of the costumes I see each halloween are not scary.

Lea, although i have heard Halloween in England isnt great you made it sound better than it is here. I like the traditional scary costumes. I have never been anything but that, yet i do it creatively. Lol perhaps i should spend a halloween there sometime soon.
