I was browsing the internet to prepare my Halloween costume, i'm really shocked by the big price differences between different stores.
Look at these Queen Halloween dresses:

Well, they look exactly the same thing from the photos, but the price difference is over $100.
How much do you usually spend on the Halloween costumes?

First thought is that the first one you show may be a used costume...which isn't a bad idea, all things considered. Most costumes are worn once, and as long as they aren't damaged, no reason they couldn't be re-used. Now, I don't KNOW that it's a used costume, but considering how much lower it is than any other place I've seen, I wouldn't be surprised.
You can find the same costume at other Halloween retailers for about $70.
As for myself, what do I usually spend? Next to nothing since I make or assemble them myself rather than buying ready-made. The only time I've done so was for my daughter - and we bought it November 1 of the year before she was born, so it could be the costume for her first Halloween (and take advantage of the after-Halloween clearance).a plague on both your houses

Apples to apples... –

Not sure if it's an apples to apples comparison. The cheaper one could either be a used costume or spoilt in some way or other, or in odd sizes.
Personally, I always use coupon codes to get lower the cost of the costumes. There are some coupon codes for BuyCostumes. Just scroll down below the video. I think some have expired but there are a couple which still work...

Dang! Those ARE some high prices. I took think it's a little crazy as to how much the difference can be for the exact same costume.
This might help though, Halloween Express Coupons
One coupon is for 12% off your entire order, no minimum.
One is buy one $50+ and get the second one for 25% off plus free shipping if the total is over $75.

I'm actually in the process of getting this dress. Ok, here is the difference. I tried on the $138 dress at a costume store here in Phoenix, it was velvet, and 3 pieces and very nice quality (it was only $88 at this store). And very cute and sexy!! The $24 one you have listed is cotton/elastic and it states it is a one piece. I would go for the velvet one. The cheaper one will probably, well, look cheap. I found the velvet one at halloweencostumes.com for $84.99 - $4.99 shipping. Hope this helps!

All I can say is, "it pays to shop around". My wife and I have been looking for a Louie XVI Ball Dress for her Halloween costume. When we found the one we wanted, it was $239 at most costume places, I kept shopping around and came upon the identical same dress on Amazon.com ( it is NEW ) for $179. Needless to say we got the latter one and when it came the quality was superb and she is thrilled to have the one she wanted for $60 less. At any rate, if you have the time keep looking.
