this is actually a prop i'm building for next years haunt.
that being said it will also double as a halloween costume. i started with a miniture test model.
the helmets i purchased used. (decrotive pieces)
both are sewn with leather and artist's canvas, dyed/stained in tea/coffee.
i have to pick up more leather to finish the ful size.
i'm no seamstess, so i just used things around my house for patterns.
like my snowboardiing pants. i folded them in 1/2 and traced around them (x4)
allowing extra material for sewing edge and increased size.
first time round wasn't a complee success. he turned out to be a little wimpy (after canvas shrinkage and limited sewing skills.lol)
take 2 was much more menicing.
its also a good shot to show the benifits of aging fabric with tea/coffee.
gives it that good old yellered look.
theres a 20" bicycle tube sewn into the collar
i can't wait to get started on the leather portion of the full size.
so with that, see ya. i'm off to len's mill stores.![]()

That's really kick-ass. One of my favorite episodes - and a great idea for a prop & costume.

Thats gonna be cool. You think about using those neon green "snap" tubes to give an inner glow?

Cap't Cutler's Ghost!!

That is soooooo cool. The hubby and I are big on Scooby Doo, so I'm really in love with this costume!
Where on earth did you find an antique diving helmet? It must have cost $$$
Hope you're doing the seaweed too.

Uber cool! I have always wondered why we dont see more product of the classic scooby doo villains. The first 3 seasons were the best, and they had such cool villains.

I wonder how it would look if you just had the inside of the helmet glow green with a more subdued green spotlight?
