my first experience was in Blackpool around 8 years ago. the Mrs and I turned up at the entrance of the Pleasure Beach theme park and spotted an attraction called 'pasaje Del Terror' or something like that. we had no idea what it actually was, and had never even heard of the concept of what we now know as a haunt, so we paid out £6 each and entered. It was basically a haunted maze, with characters from horror movies chasing us. Fred kruegar, jason, dracula, exorcist, etc. utterly terrifying but amazing.
I decided this 'new' idea could work in my home town (Edinburgh) as there was loads of witchcraft stuff going on back in the day, and loads of old gruesome characters that could be tailored to suit an Edinburgh audience...as well as the tourists.
OK, so Ive never actually did anything about it lol, and Ive discovered the concept of a haunted maze is probably older than I am, but it's still lacking in the UK.

So where are these type of attraction in the UK?

    anyone got any info?

has anyone actually did a home haunt at Halloween. How did it go, knowing that the UK really hasn't caught onto the concept yet?

We dont have an actual Haunt as such but we stick out like a sore thumb for a few days over the Halloween season.

Over the years, we have become more and more of an attraction - even though we live in the middle of nowhere, people come and bring their kids in their vehicles to visit. Consequently the garden has turned into a bit of a haunt, as has our hallway and dining room.

Not sure where we are gonna go with it in future to be honest, we fancy going a bit mad. Time will tell I guess. But so far, we have managed to gain the reputation of being "THE Halloween House!" I am kinda proud of that.

For me, I think the best stuff I've seen has been theme park related.
My preference is Thorpe park - Asylum.
I like the theming in Chessington - the vampyre ride, it has a grim organist

Before we moved, we used to decorate the house externally in a fairly big way.
Self-made things have included a life-sized stirring witch and cauldron, yard entrance, graveyard, loads of pumpkins, fog chillers, led lighting, allsorts really.

Since moving, we're just settling in really, so hopefully this year will be the one to roll out the goodies....

My background is electronics/programming/engineering, so mixes well with halloween.

I have a long-term goal to have a full haunt myself, much is planned - haunt, back-stories, many of the effects/props - just got to build up some funding and get the right location.

I went to Blackpool's Passaje Del Terror must have been when it first opened, around the same time as you went. I really enjoyed it, but I haven't been in it since. I think the price has been hiked up again.

I was thinking about going to Farmageddon on Scare Kingdom last year, but we never ended up going. It sounds like they make a great night though!

If you are determined to set up a haunt of your own, I'd say go for it. After all, haunting the UK has to start somewhere! :-)

my hope is that i can build this party night idea, and find a venue that would be suitable and have the space to create a haunt in it, just for a week or so over the halloween period. If all goes well the venue owners might like to join forces and actually make a regular seasonal attraction.

thats where Id like it to lead anyway, no idea how realistic that is.

I think Im being 'dragged' back down to Blackpool in september. we have a fortnight off work and no money to book a holiday so a wee drive down and a couple of nights in a B&B are likely. if so, a visit to passaje will be on the cards again, although we have a 4yo now so I expect I'll go in alone while my wife looks after our wee one.

I currently work seasonal at Tulleys Farm, they do 6 scare attractions. Suitable for all ages!

I visit theme parks and local areas.

Visit ScareTours, a friends site, and they organise trips to visit attractions and other horror related places. Often at better prices and days where it would only be for press and marketing. As the site owner is a top uk scare consultant (Michael Bolton), who has been responsable for many attractions around the country

We had a very small walkthrough for mainly the TOTs this year, but the grown ups loved what we'd done. Which compared to our friends across the sea was very little so next year we are going to do a larger walkthrough in one door out the other type event. Someone this year even said we should charge lol.. ..Hope you all had a great Halloween
