I started in 2006 and haven't stopped.
I've always wanted to collect them, but haven't until the past 3 years. I buy a few big pieces every year and several small pieces. I don't think it's the money that's holding me back from buying more - I think it's that I don't have the room! I'm in an apartment, and there's just not enough space. If I had my house, I'm not sure if I would spread them out in each room, or devote one room for the whole collection. I would definitely leave them up all year, though.
I started in 2009 and have collected a lot of pieces. Unfortunately, I'm a bit disappointed in the quality over the past few years and am collecting more Dept 56 than Lemax.
We started back in 2001, but I didn't know it was Lemax until 2002 the pieces Greaves Manor, and Undertaker's Carriage were boxed under the stores chain name. Had the same problem in 1997 when we started that other holiday village. We do have a few Dept 56 pieces.
I also started in 2001. My collection grown until I made the announcement to everyone that I will buy no more. I have it set up on three different levels so that you can see all the buildings and little details. At the widest it is 5 feet wide and extend over 5 feet in depth. I will try and post some pictures. However the photos I have are the pre-fog pictures. I add some white batting that made great fog around the buildings and levels that hide the table that it is set up on. Try this link - http://share.shutterfly.com/action/w...5ZsXHA¬ag=1
