I'm waiting to see what damage the snow has done to my lemon and olives trees, the jasmine died so i might give up on that but the roses have prospered this year so i have bought some more "old" roses to fill some gaps. Thinking about planting a large circle of eucaplyptus gunni trees and adding a sculpture or 2!
Hey Annea would love to know how you liked the old roses. Do you find them easy to maintain. also I live in South Florida, do you think that is a rose that would do well here. Im not too familiar with roses and am trying to learn more about them.
Ive added a couple of sculptures and a water fountain that i posted in another thread on here. Im getting ready to plant some more flowers for spring. Just bought about 8 Kings mantle. Love the purple flower it has and it seems to do well here so well see.
It's been ages since I've been here. Thanks for the nudge Spooki Last year I about killed myself with a garden project. Two years ago, had put in a nice sitting area out in the side yard: Well, there was a problem.... I have small rivers that form when it rains heavy. So, last year, surrounded the area with stones: That was A LOT OF WORK! There's still a river in the backyard that needs to be managed so I've contacted a landscaper to see what they'd charge. I'm telling you, it was a lot of work and dreading doing it again. Plus, that weeping redbud in the sitting area keeled over so thinking of putting a nice boulder there. Going to also put an arbor over a little deck in the backyard plus some repairs to it
well, Spooki, I am here, but not much to add, seeing as I am like nanook of the north, LOL , well, not that bad, but too cold to mess with stuff, I have flowers that have started to com up,one of my bushes in the front might be dead and have to replace that, branches are broken . so not sure til it decides to bud, but was thinking of replacing it anyway. Wow, Terra, what a beautiful place, love what you did, my flower garden is so over grown and has way too many weeds- need to do alot of work, have alot of perennials are in need of dividing, but don't know where to go with them, have passed out so many, and I hate to throw away plants, maybe will have a garage sale and try to sell some there. I have so much to do out side, but don't have a nice yard by no means, but I guess how ever humble there is no place like home, Huh?
don't think we are doing a veggie garden this year with only hubby and I , just do a couple of patio tomatoes and call it good, with the farmers markets , you can get cheap veggies, and alot less work!
Terra that is a great space! I love the trees you have in that seating area. Bethene thats ok girlfriend as soon as you are ready you get on here and post some pics of what you did.
This year adding a poured concrete slab under the upper deck that will be stained and landscaped. This will be the location for a hot tub. Will also add a cobblestone walkway from the gated entry down the hill to the pation/deck area. Pics to follow. Winter was a cold one out here in the Northwest and I lost some first year plants; two daisy bushes, a blue star dwarf juniper and even my rosemary seems to be struggling this spring after the winter! Also my attempt to eek out a small garden of tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers las summer resulted in 3 tiny jalapenoes, 2 cherry tomatoes and that is all. This was from three tomato plants, two jalapeno, 2 red pepper, 2 yellow pepper, 2 green pepper and 2 cucumber plants. Sol this year I am going with new and red potatoes as well as spring, yellow and red onions.
Hey Johnny I dont see the pic??? I wanna see I wanna see
Spooki, thanks for the reminder about this group. I totally forgot about it! Terra, your sitting area is gorgeous! Looks so peaceful. I can't really do anything outside yet as the soil--CLAY-- is too wet. I will be planting my vegetable garden in the future. Last summer we had to have an apple tree removed as it was rotted and in the power lines. I had a kind of hosta garden there with many named varieties of hosta. Well, with the tree removal I think there will be too much sun now. I had dug up a bunch of the hosta and potted, but I don't know if they survived yet. I've mostly been focused on seed starting indoors under lights and also outside (winter sowing). Lots sprouting inside, only a few vegetables sprouting so far in my outdoors seed area. I sure wish the weather would warm up!
