Well I'm always complaining about Jerry not keeping up with the Halloween building so here is another hobby along w/ his mower repair service that takes up his time. We have a garden out back & this year the neighbor tore up a larger piece of the yard to make room for more garden. Then up on the hill behind our houses is where the every very large garden is that we share with the neighbors. Not everything is in yet but we're working on it. It still takes us awhile to understand the weather here as we seem to go from cold weather to hot in the snap of a finger. muf
Hello people??? So what are we planting this year???? hUh??? I just added about 7 Kings Mantle they seem to do good here and I love the constant purple blooms, My passion vine is up and going again and my mexican petunias are coming back. I need to bring in some more plants in a couple of weeks when I get some more funds in about a couple of weeks or so. Im hoping to add some butterlfy bush, milk week in corners to bring in the monarchs. I have a few more I want to plant but dont know the names yet LOl I have to look that up.
It has been a cold and rainy spring here. I have prim roses out and the daffidils and tulips are just poking up. I have been working the soil up and furtilizing and trying to wake things up. The plum trees are all in full blume and I am just getting the plants to wake up. I have done some pruning and spring cleaning of the yard to get things ready. The dalhas are in the ground and I am hoping that the cool temperatures do not freeze out the bulbs. So It is a lot of a lot of preration that is going on at my place.
Oh man you get tulips!!! and plum trees!!! You are so lucky down here in FLorida we dont have the pleasure of such great flowers and trees. Lucky you
Hello fellow gardeners! I noticed today my daffodils are finally poking up, springtime in VT. is definitelt taking it's time getting here. Meanwhile, in my greenhouse things are lookin' fine. We have well over 600 tomato plants growing as well as pepper plants also eggplant. Soon we will be adding cucumber and various squash plants to our inventory. However, my favorite are my giant pumpkins which I'll begin in a few short weeks. We keep several of our veggie plants for ourselves but most of them are sold to the public by mid to late May.

Hi everyone! Soil is too wet to work, so I'm just focusing on seed starting. Got several different kinds of peppers and maters for the vegetable garden, and bunches of flowers that have just germinated. I got some seed for an unusual plant called Pumpkin on a Stick. Its really an ornamental eggplant but its supposed to produce little orange eggplants that look like miniature pumpkins. You are supposed to be able to dry these for fall floral arrangements and such. I haven't started the seed yet. I have a bunch of plants that I dug out of the yard and pots last fall to overwinter in the house. So I have full grown purple fountain grasses, salvia Black & Blue, couple of mandevilla vines. All of these are not hardy here, so I dug them up. I also have some sweet potato vine that I started from the tubers that formed. Got lots of elephant ear, and caladiums starting inside that I save from year to year. I lost all my cannas, though.
Hi, its been 32°c here today way too hot for April, we have been planting oleander, eucalyptus, cherry trees and lillies. Some are to hide the neighbours! I have also been trying to grow some herbs and meadow flowers from seed, will have to wait and see what happens there. I had a terrible year with pumpkins last year I will try to start earlier this year!
Hi everybody! Today I went through my bags of pumpkin seeds and hopefully picked out the few lucky ones that will grow me a monster pumpkin this year. Have them filed and in a damp cloth tucked in a ziploc bag to pre-sprout, after which I'll plant them in small pots until they are big enough to be planted, usually by Memorial Day. Any earlier they are likely to get bitten by frost, still cold nights here in VT. The rest of my plants continue to do great, hope it's a better growing season than last years very wet one. If anyone here would like to try growing giant pumpkins, I have oodles of seeds and am willing to share. PM me your address and I'll get them sent out.
Well Id take some seeds but Im afraid down here in Southern Florida they wouldnt grow well. also where I am the dirt is just sand and rock, really bad for planting, its tricky just to get the plants I want let alone trying to grow and edible
