Hey everyone. I need a few EL Panels for some projects and I thought I would drop an interest thread to see if anyone else is in need of these. I have e-mailed the supplier for a price, and I will post it as soon as I receive a response, but in the mean time.........is anybody interested in a group buy for these? I'm not sure yet if we are able to mix and match sizes and colors, I will also post that when I hear back.

What's an "EL Panel"? Electroluminescent Panel? Got a link or pictures?

oops, of course. Here are some links,

    Here's one

    and another

These things are really cool and can be used almost anywhere too. There are models that can be cut into almost any shape you can think of. This is the same kind of material used on the "Tron Legacy" light suits, just not the exact stuff they used.

What's the lifespan on these? EL wire has such a ridiculously low half-life (to 50% original brightness) that I never use the stuff anymore.

I've seen 10,000 hrs and 12,000 hrs listed before. These lights are similar to the el night lilghts you can buy, those really low watt ones that use a few cents a year, but these are powered by an inverter so they are much brighter.

Really?? There's nobody interested in these things??? The possibilities are endless for this stuff. Costumes, creature crates, alien themed haunts, even the clown theme stuff you could throw a little el in there, lighting pathways, home made signs for inside/outside the haunts, backlighting creepy pictures.

ehhhh, didn't really want to give china any business anyway. lots of fraudulent stuff there that needs to stop

I might be interested too. We are doing tron legacy for halloween this year and plan to use EL tape but i can think of a few details that might be easier with a panel or panel section. Did you ever get a quote from a supplier?
