So, I handed out candy last night... (my first trick or treaters ever! )

A thirteen or fourteen year old boy walked up and dropped some candy in my bowl. I was like : "did you just give me candy?" and he's like 'yeah, its your trick or treat' and walked off.

I thought this was really strange. I threw the candy away because I didn't want to give out anything that i hadn't bought myself.

Is this strange or does this just happen sometimes?

Would you have eaten or given out the candy?

(also... people stopped and took pics of my decor last night!! yay!!)

Uuuuhm, yeah, that's weird. I would have pitched it too.

Weird but I did hear that some kids were going to do a reverse trick or treat and hand out chocolate from an organic source saying to support organic/green treats. I didn't experience it or have heard of anyone getting candy but, I agree I would have tossed it. Not worth the risk.

It is weird but not uncommon

We have gotten kids trying to make contributions several times

    Usually
They don't have a bag and get tired of carrying it

Or they don't like the candy and don't want to waste it... they don't think about trading it for something they do want

Or they think they are too old for candy and try to make sure it actually goes to smaller kids

But we just convince them to keep it or pitch it after they leave

Better safe... then giving some small child peed on candy lol

I actually got one of these also... I saw no danger in this as it was tightly sealed and came with a printed plastic pamphlet explaining it and was all official looking... and tasty. it was from a small girl with her parent.

The boy that gave me the candy just dropped some random candy... sweet tarts... choco eye ball and a baby ruth in my bowl...

It seems likely that he may have been tired of carrying it...

I used to do that when I was young, as a lark, specifically to mess with the grown ups.
