I have been doing this. Might I suggest looking online for foamies/funkins nowish. I got great deals on them leading into halloween. I think I have over 40 of these, individually carved. 20 in the tree (using flickering C6 bulbs) and the rest over the garage.

I did the paranoid witch thing this year, but I am currently in a condo and doing too much theming is a bit difficult. Being that I'll probably be moving in the next few months, and that I have an 8 month gig in LA from January to August, I'm going to keep with the Paranoid witch thing.
    It depends.
I see myself just pushing simple decorations really far and using my odd/eccentric collection of everyday things too my advantage, as I like to always do.

Images of Halloween, projects for Halloween, and rants about Halloween, all year long. Halloween is Beautiful.

Probably going to go with a mad scientist's laboratory theme next year, since I helped out with a party with that theme earlier this year and have lots of labware and related props.

I'm thinking of a Deadly Garden theme for next year. After all, have you ever think about how many perfectly ordinary ornamental plants are poisonous? And corpses make such lovely fertilizer.

I've got skeleton flamingos and a very, very skinny gnome (Poor boy worked himself to the bone). Maybe add a scummy black plastic "pond." Build George the Werewolf a ghoulfriend and let them have tea on the porch. I wonder how to build giant dragonflies . . .

Wow guys, you all have some awesome ideas, you've really got me thinking now. Suddenly the idea of infected people/zombies came into mind, which sounds alot of fun. Anyway that is just one thought, but please keep the ideas rolling in.
    Thanks
    Phil

Yesterday, I drove to another Michaels a few miles farther away, because I had called to confirm that they still had foam pumpkins in stock. What they had left was mostly the medium-sized ones, which were 70% off. Only $3.59 each, so I picked up 6 of them to carve during the off-season.

So, yes, it's worth looking for them now.
