So who else around here breaks it all down Halloween night to the shock of neighbors in the morning?

I try to, but I was just too tired this year. Most years I set up Day Of while the kids are at school and tear down as soon as ToTs stop coming so it's like the October People in Bradbury's something Wicked This Way Comes--not here one day, here the next and gone by morning.

I grab it all and shove it in the garage, then start packing it up the next day.

Normally I leave up my gravestones and tunnels (arches covered with black plastic) but we had an altercation with some teenage thugs ( and an adult or two) and ended up having to call the police. (the adult hit my 14 yr old son and then when my husband stepped in, his friends decided to make it 3 on 1. My husband kicked all 3 of their a$$es) We took EVERYTHING down just in case. I didn't want to wake up in the morning to a disaster. Never had issues like this before. Thank god for security systems and guns!

It was actually comical. What took me a month to set up literally took 9 of us 20 minutes to take down. Of course my garage looks like a spirit store exploded but I have the next few weeks to sort, pack and store. So yeah, the neighbors will wake up to normalcy in the morning.

We do it. It's painful, but it otherwise it just feels like the yard has a hangover. The house is gonna be a nightmare.

Next day, for me. I don't feel like dodging the black widows in the darkness and fighting them for my props. I wait until the light of day.

We do. I like the idea of everything disapearing. Plus I don't have to worry about vandalism or theft. Only took us a hour tonight. Thank goodness for the help of my dh and 5 kids!

This year was our first year for our garage haunt, so it was easy to fill the halls with the outdoor stuff. I can then take this week and pack, breakdown everything.
