So what made this year worth it for you?

We only got nine tot’s this year, but the last group, four ten years olds loved the props. Then spent several minutes walking around my set up looking at every prop, noticing those little details we put into them to make them the best props we can. They kept asking how I did one thing or another. And several times asking if I was going to decorate again next year, giving me their ideas. Several of which I plan to do.
So, what made this year shin for you?

AS usual, I do all the setup, I get so excited, and then we are lucky to get more than 1 TOT. So what made the night for me? My 5 year old skipping down the street with her JOL bucket saying "I love Halloween!"
It made me remember what it's all about

This was the firet year I was able to do my own home haunt since years ago when my father and i did it. It has been a long time. Just getting to set up stuff and give some ToT's a little scare , and bring back some of my own childhood memories was all it took for me.

    1) After years of seeing no one else decorate.... we saw several houses with decorations
    2) 2 years ago we had 10 tots... we had over 450 this year
    3) We met tons of our neighbors and now speak daily to many of them
    4) Every kid we had seemed super excited about our display
    5) Over the last month we have seen at least 50 people take pics of our display

Getting to have a try at tombstones. The names on them are names of pets i had who are no longer amongst the living.

Seeing all of the kids come through our haunt, watching them scream and laugh as they left. It was awesome.

What made it worthwhile this year was my two youngest kids being fully aware (in advance) that H'ween was coming, planning their own costumes, saying "I LOVE trick-or-treating!" as they ran from one house to the next for more loot, how they were so cute saying "Trick or treat!" dutifully at each door and saying "Goodbye...happy Halloween!" before leaving (I didn't tell them to)...having them REALLY pretend to be their "characters", calling each other "Sponge Bob" and "Spiderman" rather than each other's real names...

Having them put out their own "decorations" today while I was putting the finishing touches on mine...just my kids. My kids made it all worth it.

Seeing how well mannered the local kids were, what a credit to the local community.

about 50 ToTers in 11 batches.
The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
    And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see vampires fly,
And harpies of upper air. That flutter, laugh and stare.

That's great that they really got into it on so many levels. So sweet!
