...and I kept my sanity, whoo hoo!

We got it up and running on time last night, had enough volunteers, and it turned out great. Still keep wondering why I put 9 mos worth of work into it for one hour, but yeah - it was worth it.

Everyone seemed to have a great time and loved it. We had the usual parents who dragged their kids in kicking and screaming, despite warnings, but most of the haunt-goers were ok with the scares. We only had one incidence of trouble, too. This is the second year we had a deputy from the county sheriff's office out - 2 years ago, we had a group of teenage boys come through and beat up 3 of our actors and destroyed numerous props. Last year, the presence of the deputy and a huge "touch an actor or prop, get arrested" sign was enough deterrent. This time, 2 teenage boys (what is it with teenage boys???) decided it would be fun to hit back at any prop that got near them. And they were stupid enough to be on a tour that I was filming! So I told them I'd have the cops waiting outside for them and sure enough, they tried to say they didn't do anything at which point I held up my camcorder and they got REAL quiet. The cop escorted them out....now we just have to wait and see if we get retaliation anytime soon (they're neighborhood kids and the barn we use for the haunt is in the neighborhood park).

Spent the day putting away tools and masks and eating my kid's candy. Now going to watch some haunt shows and plan for next year. Hope everyone has a fantastic Halloween!
