A good friend of mine wrote this and I loved it. I asked him if it was ok if I share this on the forum because I figured many of you would enjoy it as I did and he was happy to share it.

Night Chills

In the night it came to me
like a breeze upon a flame
A sound that sent chills to race
...and I know not whence it came
A voice that called
though was not heard
by any man nor beast
And the anguish that I felt
was mostly fear to say the least
And yet, the feeling it instilled
in my mind was more than fright
And then it grew in volume
as an image came to sight
A mirage or trick of smoke
sent shivers up my back
And though a sight I saw I'm sure
much substance it did lack.

Across the room
and through the chair
It's head was white
with flowing hair
Its arms raised high
toward my face
I could not move
My heart did race

Then the vision stopped and stared
Hands lowered as it cried
Tonight I look for peace
This the night I died
With that it faded and disappeared
Gone without a trace
But on the floor there was a candle
that glimmered as it took it's place
The silence grew and the candle flickered
and then there was no light
Alone I stood entrenched in thought
from that whisper in the night
