Well, ToT was tonight for us.

A very soggy start to the festivities fried all THREE of my fog timers. I wasn't worried about them, and didn't take measures to prevent this as they've survived 2 prior years of rain unprotected.

This meant for a year largely without fog.

The rain also resulted in rather low numbers. Just over 400 this year. Down considerably from past years.

LOTS of compliments this year. More than ever before.

The silly bands from the group buy were MARVELOUS. Frightened kids practically beamed being coaxed by those things.

Kyle's cross broke early. He decided to dish out candy, leaving me to wander.

This left me MOSTLY keeping things running and breaking up large groups so they don't overwhelm the candy drop (which always results in folks grabbing handfulls instead of one at a time).

So, not a lot of scaring on my part, but Kyle was getting screams.

I did have one particularly memorable ToT, however. It was slowing down, getting late, time to do a little more scaring. 'hiding' just inside the fence, I stepped out, and half the group ran, so I naturally chased. Right out of the yard and across the street...two of them eventually came back and went through. The third decided to be a little jerk. He stood there yelling all kinds of obscenities at me, and cursing his friends for going through. When they tried to get him to come in later, he just shouted louder. If I moved at all he'ld run. I thought he was joking at first, but he was just petrified. More groups were coming, and I really didn't want him cursing in front of the little kids, so I stepped back in the fence, and grabbed the scythe. A nice, real, antique one...A slew of 'what the _____ is that?' and 'what the ____ is he supposed to be?' came out, and he ran to the end of the yard. When I stepped under the rope around the yard, he screamed and ran around the corner. He was hurriedly telling the next house around the corner about the 'psycho chasing him', quite loudly when I stepped around the corner...and I began dragging the scythe on the pavement. Poor kid only lives 4 doors down from me, and nearly died when his dad let me in the door...I'm sure he'll sleep FINE knowing that psycho lives just down the street.

OMG!!! Forgive me, but your story had me in stitches! The visual of that kid being "brave" but then squealing & running any time you came near him...ohhhhhhhhhh...(wiping eyes) I must be pure evil. Very funny story. Happy Halloween!
