I have had very few problems and have had a great time getting ready
Which is unusual because I am usually struggling to get ready for Halloween and finishing everything last minute
But after weeks of prep and set up
My display looks great
I have tons of candy
I have pumpkins to carve
Our costumes are ready
but I am no longer in the mood for Halloween
I am actually ready to take down my decorations and start on the next project
Has this ever happened to anyone else?
How do I get myself excited again?

I am just frustrated with our weather and now rain again... The last winds really did alot of damage and broke a number of items... I am having withdrawals but will still forge on with the tradition rain or shine.
Hope the weather don't ruin it for us on the big day.. I just let a few neighborhood kids come over and browse my place to bring me back to spirits again. Their big smiles and excitement looking forward to my haunt is all I needed to reignite the drive!
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

Thats how I feel right now, since moving into the new area I dont know, this year I just dont have that same halloween spirit I did all the other years. I think because I lived in my other home so,so long and was so use to doing halloween there, that now it just does not have that same feeling to me.Im hoping halloween day that will change and I will feel more into it,but I NEVER thought I would not feel excitied about halloween, and dont get me wrong im looking forward to it, but just doesnt feel the same this year for me, since the move

I often get this feeling a day or two before a holiday I really like (or love...like H'ween, of course!). It's just the calm before the happy storm, though. I think a HUGE part of what we do H'ween-wise involves hoping to get it all right for the "big day" so once all the preparations are done, we go into a sort of pre-holiday coma.
Don't worry. On Sunday you will be FULL of H'ween spirit. I promise you.

I think a lot of prop builders, artists and haunters have this problem. They get so much satisfaction and enjoyment from the creating/preparing stage they forget to stop and smell the open graves.
Relax and have a cup of warm, spiced apple cider.
Watch some Halloween programs by the light of flickering Jack O' Lanterns.
Turn on some Halloween music.
Go to a nearby park (or cemetery) and take a minute to listen to the birds, feel the wind and admire the changing trees.
Give yourself a quiet moment on the back porch to watch as Autumn slowly wrings the life out of the land.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the holiday for yourself.

Now looky here you, a lot of people have gotten their displays beaten to death mulitple times and have had to struggle through it all just to keep the dream alive this year. You're sittin pretty and now you're, booo hoooo....not in the mood? Well you GET in the mood and consider yourself lucky to be in such great shape. Slap slap on each cheek to you to wake you up!
How's that for tough love?

Seriously, be thankful and hang in. It's almost here. When they come a knockin, you'll once again start rockin. Enjoy.

propmistress, I'm in the same boat as you.. I'm bored with looking at my haunt day after day after day. But to keep my brain entertained, I started planning next year's haunt. That has helped some.

Plus, I have had black sheets across all my front windows for a month. I feel like I'm in a cave...in Alaska... in December. I need sunlight!!!!! Can't wait to rip it all down!!!

I think some good points have been made. Tomorrow is the day we've been waiting for all year. When the sun starts to set and those first TOT's come to your door, I don't doubt you'll get the spirit real quick. That said, a lot of us put so much work and effort into our displays/haunts that once it's all done being set up, it becomes anti=climactic. I think this is one reason I don't put everything out a month in advance. I don't want to ge tired of it. Stand back and admire your work! Think of how you felt when puting it all together and tomorrow night you reap the rewards of your labor. There will be plenty of time to be depressed come Monday! Hang in there. You're in better shape than many here so try to enjoy it!
