Hi all, been fairly new in this forum just joined last year, absolutely love this site! As I have been checking out some threats with cool props and displays, I learned more from everyone here as no one here where I am from ( Smithville Ontario, Canada) really gets into Halloween. Even the stores here have limited amount of halloween stuff for sale or it is bloody expensive!
As I am close to the states border again limited to purchase of halloween items each time, so hard to resist, the Americans are really into Halloween!!
I was wondering how others in Canada deal with this?
I don't have anyone from the States that I know who can help me when I see all the goodies I love to have.

Smithville is not far from Stoney Creek right?
There is an amazing Halloween store in the west end of Toronto called the Amazing Party & Costume (www.amazingpartystore.com), that should be about one hour away from you.
There's also a Spirit store in Hamilton, which should be even closer.Doctor Grim

Hey Tamster, Pegster here!
I live outside of London - dissapointingly sad shopping around these parts too. Value Village used to go crazy with costumes etc, as well as WalMart, SuperStores even Spencers in the mall but all have cut back. I did an overnight in Utica Michigan - WOW is all I can say, those yanks go friggin nuts over Halloween that's for sure. I hit Target and dollar stores for smaller unique stuff then 3 big stores - Spirit was overpriced and did not have the quantity of goods that Halloween Bazaar has - I forget the name of the 3rd store - didn't need to stop there as I picked up some great bargains at Bazaar. It is really worth your time to check out the US for shopping for your haunting. Hey make it an overnight, it is worth the drive, the dollar is good and it's always a nice holiday in the US.
I joined this forum too, a few months back and was consumed with all the awesome information, links etc. that are here for FREE! I will tell you that making your own props is the way to go,
even by starting small - I am not into pneumonics (sp?) may be a little too far out for me - but I can talk my hubby into wood projects so that's a bonus. Will post some pics from our 4th Annual Costume party after next week - stay tuned... Bah ha, haa....

Good afternoon fellow Canucks...I live just 45 minutes west of Toronto...and I too find this year a lot of stores have not put out enough Halloween items...which sucks to say the least...
I am lucky I stocked up on 75% off Halloween items from Walmart this year, and lee me say this much they are amazing props...I am using those this year so I guess that's why Walmart and other outlets not having the greatest selection this year hasn't really sunk in with me that much lol...

yes Stoney Creek is 25 min away. Yes I have been to the Spirits stores in Hamilton, and Burlington and I was hoping they carried the Gemmy HolidayLight show or Halloween Lightshow and sound......but sadly, they don't carry them in Canada only in the States. I did pick up a Spelled book from them, pretty cool!
I did find that site Amazing Party & Costume site, don't usually go to Toronto.

Oh i so agree with Spirits, it's nuts with the prices!! Party packagers have some too but again, the prices......Walmart is not too bad, I got Horace the Butler there, and Value Village with costumes, it just seems Canada sucks with Halloween.
I do have to get a passport to go to the states, maybe I will go there, I use to go a long time ago, ya they love Halloween and their prices are so reasonable!! Thanks for your post, nice to have some canadian friends in here!
BTW I just join the site you suggested today

It is that darn Gemmy Lightshow that I desperately want, isn't that awful?? Even if I don't use it this year for halloween, I sure can use it for Christmas, another time of year I love to decorate.
