My Halloween Beacon had to temporarily come down tonight. It sits on top of my house suspended 12+ feet in the air. The next two days have a wind forecast at 40 - 60+ mph. I thought I would take preventative measures to keep it safe. I even had to cover a few select tombstones with garbage bags taped over them to keep them from the eventual rain later this evening. Those tombstones have LED's inside of them. I HATE the wind and RAIN!!!
Just venting my frustration,

We had lots of torrential rain Friday and Saturday. They postponed many outdoor football games and had many rain/lightening delays here.
My cemetery is looking rather sad, but I will be able to whip it in shape. It is the crashed witch display out front that I am worried about. The witches on the ground were so soaked. I just hope they are able to dry out and not mold.

I took down the parts of my display that I had just set up. It wasn't finished, but I had some large foam props up. We're supposed to be getting the 40-60 mph winds also. I don't want to have my display destroyed before it is even finished. I had to leave the fence and foam columns up. I hope everyone's props survive the nasty weather.

Yep getting those winds here in IL. I'm just glad it's now and not Saturday night or Sunday.

Good luck to you all! We are all in the same boat. I am afraid it is all my fault. I mentioned to my wife that this year was going to be the perfect year for our haunt. The last three have been pure crap so I thought that we were due. I guess someone believed otherwise.
The rains will come and the winds will blow but we must be there to hand out the candy. We must keep Halloween alive! Damn postal workers had the best motto! Oh well I tried.

Another Chicagoan checking in. Even heavy resin tombstones only steps from the house were blowing over after midnight and that's without the storm. A friend in Waukesha WI reports that the storm has hit her and that it's much worse than she expected. Even the newscasters were advising people to bring their props indoors for this one.
