I had my daughter create a flyer to post in a few supermarket public notice boards....has anyone ever done this? Has it increased the amount of tot's you get?

I made a jack in the box box of sorts that my daughter will be hiding in and jumping out of.. so on the flyers we put "What's in the box at 111 Elm St Smithville (not my real address) come find out Halloween Night". I thought the way I worded it would help to make people curious and come find out for themselves. Anyone have success with advertising this way?

Done it once in 2001 and had alot of disrespectful teens show up shoving my regular TOTs around. Was not cool and did not publicly post anything ever again. There was a few that actually ran through my graveyard and tripped on cords not to mention a few broken items... Be careful and I wish you the best of luck with your Halloween Haunt!
A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..

We already agreed last Halloween wandering around our yard is a big no no. The yard is really uneven and has small holes in a few places so we don't let anyone into the yard. Only to the front porch. Sidewalk is off limits too. It's uneven and dangerous in the dark even if you've walked down it a million times. My daughter and I will be in the front and hubby is hiding out in the back with his leaf blower/chain saw at the ready. The walk to the porch has been redone so there's no issues there. If the kids really really really wanted to see something up close I took their hand and guided them to it and then guided them back out.

Other than your troubles did it send more tot's your way?

We have put out fliers and had feature articles in the newspaper several times. It did wonders for the turn out. I imagine the front page of the newspaper did the most to increase TOTs. It did bring some less than desirable elements to the haunt but all have been dealt with. Actually some of the neighbors have been more of a problem. You just have to be ready for the unexpected. Lots of luck! Happy haunting.
