Worst nightmare came true this afternoon. Only ONE person showed up at our volunteer meeting. We need 9.

We had advertised that the haunt needs actors for WEEKS now. There are over 200 families in our subdivision - we volunteered to run the house with the stipulation that we'd have help. This year - NADA. I am so ticked off. Everyone complains that the house isn't how they want it at the events committee meetings, but no one shows up to do crap about it. We're on our own. Enough energy to complain but not follow through, evidently.

Only bright spot - the committee chair is pissed off too and gave us the green light to hire people out. Which will completely blow our budget, but that will also mean they'll increase our budget next year. Can we say vortex tunnel?

Now I just have to figure out where to hire actors locally, IF they're available! Nothing in the phone book under actors, party rentals, clowns...

Did you try the local high school? There are lot of clubs typically in high school that might like to volunteer their members time.

There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

Drama Clubs are perfect for this type of stuff. Also, if you have a local community theatre, you might want to give them a call, because they might be able to put you in touch with people who will help.
