So a friend of my is letting me borrow his movie projector so that I can use it to play a movie on my garage door on Halloween. I'm going to try to make my driveway look like some kind of drive in theater in which all the people in their cars have been murdered.
I'm trying to think of a good movie to project. It needs to be a horror movie, but I don't want it to have any nudity or extremely gory scenes because of the little kids in the neighborhood. I was thinking about the original Halloween, but I don't remember if their is a nude scene or not. It isn't very gory, I know that, so I think it would work. I was also thinking maybe an old black and white classic like Dracula or Frankenstein if I can't find something more modern.

How about something like Ernest Scared Stupid, The Monster Squad, Monster House.
I think the original Halloween does have some MILD nudity...by todays standard.I've seen The Exorcist 167 times, and it keeps getting funnier every single time I see it!

Man your opening a can of worms! I love the idea though. If your going very family oriented how about "Nightmare Before Christmas" or " ItsThe Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
For a drive in theme it has to be the original "War Of The Worlds" . Very 50's Sci-Fi, Vibrant colors, Aliens, The sight and sound of the heat ray, Way cool stuff.
Second choices are a toss up between "Plan 9 From Outer Space" or "Night Of The Living Dead" (1968). "Dead" Is more horror and has a very mild nude scene though. Its a nude female zombie shown from the back about 15 feet away from the camera and it lasts about 5 seconds.
Cant wait to see how this turns out. Good Luck,
Marc V.

I looked this up for you in regards to Halloween. Doesnt sound TOO bad but then different strokes for different folks.
Suggested MPAA description: Rated 'R' for Slasher Violence and Terror, Sexuality/Nudity, Some Language and Drug Use.
A girl and a boy kiss repeatedly and passionately on a couch and then run upstairs (sex is implied); the nearly nude girl is later shown brushing her hair in front of a mirror (we see her bare back and panties and her bare breasts are vaguely visible from a distance; we also see her bare breast when she falls to the floor after being murdered).
A girl changes clothes (we see her bare back and panties; the side of her bare breast is very briefly visible).
A girl and a boy kiss and roll around on a couch; the nude couple is later shown in bed, having sex (the scene is shown while they are under the sheets; however, we do see the boy thrusting on top of the girl and hear moaning; we also see the girl's bare breast afterwards); she later exposes her bare breasts (which we see very briefly and partially) in front of a man that she believes is the boy and then gets out of bed to speak on the telephone (her bare breasts are visible a few times).
A nude girl's corpse is discovered (her bare breast is very vaguely visible, but the scene is extremely dark and hazy).I've seen The Exorcist 167 times, and it keeps getting funnier every single time I see it!

Thanks, I really appreciate everyone's responses. I guess I forgot about some of that stuff in Halloween. I guess we are just so used to all of it now a days that I never really took notice. So Halloween wont be a good option. There are alot of young kids here, and some of the parents here are the ones just looking to get someone in trouble.
I never did think about War of the Worlds. That is the perfect drive in movie. I think I'll use that, or some 50's sci fi movie.
I'll post pics of the whole thing after Halloween. I plan on putting two or three cars in my drive way and putting some fake bodies inside, blood on the windows, etc. Again, thanks for the responses.

I'd be careful with Monster Squad, too, because I watched that recently and forgot how much language they used to get away with in movies we watched as kids.
I think a classic compilation clip would be AWESOME - black and white - just different scenes and quick cuts to creepy things. Kind of like a Universal Monster version of that movie Willy Wonka shows on that boat in the original Chocolate Factory (where the chicken gets its head cut off). But, you know, without any chickens getting their heads cut off.

I think monster squad would be a good one too despite the language factor. Yes there is some swear words, but they are pretty much used playfully except for Dracula's remark toward Phoebe. But anyway they say most of those words on regular tv series these days so I doubt it'd be a big deal
it's a good movie cuz it appeals to kids but it also has some scary moments which will appeal to the older crowd.
If u wanna play it real safe though I'd suggest abbott and costello meet Frankenstein. It got the elements of the classic horror mixed with comedy. It's awesome! That or the wolfman are good ones.

Just a quick mention and sorry to be a downer - if you're playing a movie that is not in the privacy of your own home, the law considers this a public display and you'd be breaking the copyright of the respective movie shown... most have a notice at the beginning about for usage "for private home viewing" or something.
There are some pretty awesome movies in the public domain - movies that have no copyright on them either due to age or accident (Night of the Living Dead being the most noteable as they actually didn't know about how to copyright and it NEVER was...
). If you show any of these, then there's no risk of someone complaining and getting a visit by police or fines. It's not a huge risk, granted, but I remember last year a poster actually had someone turn them in for this.

The Dollar Tree and Halloween City had some great old black and white horror movies for only a dollar. Check them out. They're all in the public domain. They're the perfect drive-in theater type of stuff.
