Really what is it?
I am making some fake barbed wire fence. The instructions say to use pva glue. I can not find this in either of the walmarts here(I was lucky enough just to get poster paint) so I looked it up and it says wood glue, school glue and white glue. So which one is the best to use? I can get some regular elmers white school glue is that what it is talking about? This prop will be outside for a couple of days on my fence.
They do have a few construction glues at walmart but not many. I got liquid nails, construction adhesive, for another project is that sufficient? Would that be pliable enough? Also the directions were to mix this PVA glue 1:1 glue:water and then 4:1 glue mixaint
Is there a national chain that might be here that might carry this glue?(we are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay out in the sticks in Northern Maine so not a lot of store choices here)
This is the barbed wire I am trying to do. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-...ake-barb-wire/
Wood glue, school glue, and white glue are all the same basic formula, the wood one is tinted tan and has a different viscosity. You can glue wood with regular white glue and it'll be almost as good. The only thing that would be different is if you mean the paste type school glue, which is often just flour and water.
For outdoor use you might want to look into something like Titebond II if the tan color won't interfere with the project. Awhile back on the woodworking newsgroups there was a lot of discussion and the general consensus was that Titebond II was actually more waterproof than Titebond III. Neither are suitable for immersion but rain should be fine. White glue will be decently waterproof when hardened, though.
