What idiots! Do they plan on renaming Christmas also?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are other holidays besides Halloween? When did they start that?

People have been doing this kind of thing for years. Changing the name doesn't change what you're celebrating. Al the churches and schools around here have been having "fall festivals" since the early 90's. We know the truth though - it's still HALLOWEEN!

People can be such... you-know-whats. People who claim to know how evil Halloween is, haven't even taken the time to study it's history.

Those parents would love me and the others here who go for scariness, I'm sure
Who else would like to give them a certain type of salute?
Let the kids enjoy themselves...

Some people really need to get a clue. Anybody who thinks Halloween is harmful needs to pull their head out of their cobwebs! Let kids enjoy the wonderful holiday and stop creating unnessary problems.
Life is full of things that are dark and scary, including death, and letting kids (and adults) have a fun outlet for some of that stuff is a good thing if you ask me.
"PTA chairman Sarah Christie, 40, said children would still be allowed to turn up as witches, ghouls, ghosts, vampires and 'even Satan', but that Halloween was not to be mentioned. "
What sense does that even make?*

I would like to offer my 2 cents regarding this if I may. Mods... if this isn't allowed, by all means delete and let me know. I'll first start out by saying that I AM a born again Christian.
Attitudes such as this is nothing new to me. I have been told by other Christians that I must not be a "real" Christian since I celebrate this holiday. I understand the roots of Halloween and do understand that some pagans do celebrate certain things on this day. But it's significance to them they place on the day which has no effects on me. For me, it simply is a day to spook and be spooked, to dress up, have fun and get involved in my neighborhood and meet my neighbors. Nothing more... nothing less. Yes.... as a Christian we are not to have dealings in anything occultic and perhaps some do these practices but I don't. Those who do... it's their business. What Halloween has become for most in my country is just a fun day to dress up and go out TOTing.
It only has evil significance if you personally give it evil significance. Yet when I bring up the pagan roots of Christmas & Easter, some of my brothers and sisters in Christ will jump to defend it. Saying... "Well that's not what we are celebrating". How is that any different than what I'm celebrating on Halloween? In fact.... I'm not even celebrating anything! I'm dressing up and giving out candy. So if I dress up and give out candy some other day than Halloween does it change what I'm doing?
These PC crowds annoy me just as much as those who try to change the Merry Christimas greeting to be politically correct. Get over it!
