I love Halloween, but this year is the first year that I am going to have a party in my own house. Unfortunately, the stress of my job and the travel I have to do for it, has made it hard to get into the spirit and get crafty and decorate the house.I bought all of this fabric to decorate my witch hat and I haven't done a thing with it. The guilt is overwhelming. Last weekend I used the time I could to decorate the outside but it is nowhere near where I wanted it to be. Also, my boyfriend recently moved out and so the house is a mess and has all of his stuff everywhere.

I guess just asking for some inspiration to get over my tiredness and get the house and party stuff done and have fun doing it!

Do what you can do, but don't tire yourself out so much that it's a chore or you'll end up not enjoying any of it.

Just remember that no one knows the plans you've got in your head, so the fact that you only got A, B and C done when you had a whole alphabet of other things is NOT a failure... your friends will be happy with what you DID do.

If you're feeling overwhelmed, you also could call up a friend or two and beg for some help to get things done.

And remember, what you have stuff for and don't get around to doing this year? You are already ahead for NEXT year.

Life has really tried to put a wrench into my halloween plans too. First I had to change the day of my party, thanks to some new crazy 12 hour work shifts! And I had to change it to Halloween night, which as you know is a Sunday, so everyone will have to work the next morning. So practically no one has RSVPed. And then we had a car problem come up so now we don't really have any extra money to spend for the party...and I was pretty much having to start from scratch on decor and such, since I lost all my old Halloween stuff a couple years ago. My husband pretty much wanted me to just give it up and cancel. But I couldn't do it! I went to all this trouble on my costume this year, gosh darn it I want it to be seen! And I just don't want to spend another Halloween doing nothing.
So, I've gone ahead with my plans, not knowing whether anyone is actually going to show up or not. Yesterday I learned that my good friend who is about to move away (the day after!) is planning to come, so I'm happy now, even if nobody else comes!

I don't know what to tell you, other than just to try to work on things a little at a time. That's what I've done. It's slowly been coming together. I tend to get into funks and just have to force myself to get up and work on something. I like to play the Nightmare Before Christmas Revisited albums while I work on decorating / cleaning up. Kinda silly, but it helps me get into the spirit. And yeah, as Frankie's Girl said, maybe see if one of your friends will help out!

Just think....it'll all be worth it in the end.
