We had our first incidence of vandalism and theft. Sometime during the night, someone kicked apart our motion-activated skulls and stole a large grim reaper bust out of our graveyard.

I don't know if anything else is missing; I need to calm down and do an inventory. I was rushing around this morning, trying to remove our more fragile props, in the pouring rain we were having. I can't remember when last it poured rain at Halloween; we are a drought-plagued area.

I'd like to find the thief and bash him or her with the reaper he or she stole.

Most of our gravestones are missing. The thief tore a barney skeleton off his supporting rebar.

you can get very inexpensive security cameras on ebay, also i think a very quick and easy fix would be to get a motion detector flood light and turn it on/ready when you go to bed, any thief is going to scurry like the cockroaches they are when those lights come on.

hmm... would it be illegal to have steel bear traps on your property -wonders to self

    Yes! Chop! Chop!

It's worse than I thought at first: all the good gravestones are gone, the skeleton, a skull, a cast iron witch on a stick, my spiderweb iron lawn stakes with signs on them, a six-foot tall skull-topped scythe, the big reaper bust... My daughter said, "Wow, there must have been several thieves, in a truck!" We're talking about 500.00 worth of stuff taken.

And I am feeling very paranoid; I have the creepiest feeling that I know who did it. I drove around the neighborhood, and when my car passed a house with a bunch of thuggish people hanging around on the sidewalk and the street, they glared at me. Two of the thugs tried to stare me down when I looked at them. But a creepy feeling isn't even enough to mention to the police, of course. They could just be menacing everyone who drives by.

All this vandalism and theft is terrible! Seems to be the worst year yet for that sort of thing.

    I'm so sorry.
