Its almost like the neighbors know when I'm out there setting up. Every time I hear a car now while I'm working its "please don't slow down, please don't ask me any questions"

Don't get me wrong, I have good neighbors but when you are 8 feet in the air on a ladder setting up lights the last thing I want to hear is "so, you're setting up for Halloween?"

    ugh

How about a sign that says "Sure Am, Happy Halloween! Love, the guy standing pecuriously 8 feet up in the air"?

Heh, they got me last night...

Then again, I stopped by and talked to a neighbor that was setting up today, so I really can't complain.

I know what you mean.....There is always a certain day that I start getting irritated because I'm feeling it closing in and wonder if I'm going to get done in time....Today was that day, nothing was going right and I had to stay home to finish what I was doing this evening instead of going to one of the local haunts..... I like talking to people but from here on out to Halloween, it wouldn't bother me if we got NO visitors until our party....lol.....ZR

When I was doing my porch, a bunch of neighborhood kids came over and watched. They spent the entire time asking me questions. Then their parents came over and everyone was standing on my walkway.

    haha

I feel the same. I've got a few neighborhood kids that are really thrilled when we start setting up, but they go into my garage and start going into my boxes () and also trying to walk through the minefield of cords and pointy ended things that would impale them if they tripped in the graveyard... makes me cringe every time!

I have no problems with them watching or asking questions, but I don't like strangers digging through my stuff or worrying over someone getting hurt.

Hey, as long as it's not a truck load of jehova's witness's telling me I'm going to burn in hell, I have no problem with the sight-seers. As long as the comments are positive, bring 'em on!

I think people just get excited & thats why they come. Nobody really understands how time consuming what we do is, especially for those of you that work & are on a limited time schedule to start with.

I believe ya just gotta find a "nice way"...lol to send them on their way. I know how much I concentrate on what I'm doing, plus whats next, plus what goes where... without having to try & indulge in friendly conversation. As for those that come & start looking through boxes......holy cow that would be a humongous "NO!!!". We had a garage sale a week ago & Jerry had his tables set up outside. The garage door was open & you could see there was a Halloween scene set up in there. Also boxes of stuff. Jerry just bought 3 pick-up loads of garage sale stuff to take to the flea market. (See, thats what you do when you are retired! Ha)

So while he was helping customers a few people decided to step behind his tables & start going through boxes themselves........I was in the house. Guess what they were going through?????YUP.....some of my Halloween stuff he had taken out to carry to the front of the house for decorating. Sure do have to watch them suckers!
