I can't believe it. I don't do a huge haunt at all (you've probably all seen my pictures). But I do my share: a little cemetery, skeletons, spiders, cobwebs, etc.

So this year I just did pretty much a "haunted house" effect and put skeletons as a forefront sort of theme. I have three jointed, posable skeletons from Oriental Trading (is it true they're going out of business? I'll cry) and I was going to get tons more but I ran short of money. So I have one hanging with his legs splayed in a funny way, and two more hanging one onto the other from a tree.

Well, the other day I was driving home and there was a woman taking pictures of my house! So I pulled in and she asked me about the skeletons. Then she swapped tips with me...rebar, posing everything, etc. It was awesome!

Then a couple of days later, a car with a few people was driving past while I was outside getting my mail and they all yelled "Where did you get your skeletons?" and I told them and gave them a thumbs-up and they were laughing and said thank you.

I am so glad people like this! It's hard to know sometimes if your haunt is making anybody happy, you know? Well, except for your own little devils, of course. (My kids LOVE to spook the place up.)

This thread has a bunch of pics of my house on it...I have added a couple things since then (dead flowers in the cemetery, etc.). It's really not a big haunt at all! But I guess people really do love H'ween.

As much as we do it for ourselves, it's always a super bonus to know someone else cares and appreciates it. Congrats!
I've put more thought into my Halloween costume than my career.

    CaliforniaMelanie,

Isn't that a great feeling to have folks stop by and admire all your hard work...?

I have had my haunt up for about a week and every day, I get more people either walking or driving by that stop and look at my set up. I have gotten to chat with a lot of them and they all say how great it is that we do our haunt.

What is even more ego boosting is when they say that my Pirate haunt looks like it is right out of Disney POTC and several have asked if I do this for a living....!

    Happy Haunting!
Thank ye matey, from the bottom of me scurvy heart......"One Eye'd" Mick

The ships' doctor warned me that I've been partaking in too much wine, women and song and told me that I should cut back a bit.........I am really going to miss the singing.....

I love these forums, but they really do mess up your sense of what is "normal'. You are waaaaaay above and beyond the Halloween of the average Halloween enthusiast.

You've got a ton of props that look amazing, and are really well considered. You kick butt on quantity, but its the quality and thought that really makes your haunt special.

I've seen a few houses locally with a lot of props this year, but mostly it's just buy and hang without a lot of thought.

All I'm saying is, compliments are well deserved. Enjoy 'em.

I always get a kick when folks say "Ooooh, you're the Halloween house!" : D
