You know the one.

It's Halloween night, and you have nothing done. The TOT's are gamboling down the street and you haven't even a single jackolantern up. As you scurry in a blind panic trying to fix things last second, obstacles mounting in your path, you experience a horrible, deep sadness that this year has gone completely to waste, and you have to wait until next Hallowe'en to set things right...

Or some variation of this theme.

I get these Hallowe'en-related anxiety dreams periodically and they drive me NUTS. My latest was last night...it was a few days before the big night. I only had one pumpkin, for some reason.

My tradition is to have at least 5 jackolanterns every year, homage to my favourite Halloween poem taught to me as a child...and apparently this translated to the dream. I was desperate to get four more pumpkins so I was running around to all these different stores, but they had none left!! They had already packed them away and it was all Christmas stuff, the horror!! I was rummaging in those big cardboard containers but it was all cobwebs!

The pumpkins they DID have were flat, lumpy rotted sort of things, some were kept underwater and had a fine layer of algae growing all over them...
I think the dream ended when I managed to find, at long last some other pumpkins I had rat-holed away in my room and suddenly remembered.

LOL Anyone care to share their own versions of "The Dream"??

Funny topic. Having done Halloween parties for the last 18 years (never a TOT attraction/haunt as we always lived in secluded areas) I am kind of surprised that I have never had those dreams. I feel HUGE pressure in the 1-2 days leading up to our events, we host 40-60 people.... and they all come with huge expectations.

I do have those "unprepared" dreams though, often that I am a hired disk jockey (I used to be a night club DJ in the 80s) and I can't find a single record or CD that I recognize and the music if fading.....

I am in college and go to class and realize they are hiving a test I know nothing about...

I am taking a trip to a foreign country, at the airport and I have nothing packed... (scars from business travel).

I have dreamt about possibly every other experience, obsession/interest I have... not Halloween.

Yet.

I have had 2 Halloween related dreams so far. In the first one it was tot night and we forgot to get any candy for the kids and we couldn't find any at any of the stores.I don't remember what we got to give out but it was not candy. In the other one it was all most Halloween and I hadn't even decorated yet and was try to get stuff to decorate when I woke up.

For the first time since I can remember, I have NOT had that dream one single time this season! I must be mellowing in my old age...

I have had that dream so many times, but a slight variation of it- i'm a kid again, it's a few minutes before trick or treat has started, and i haven't started on my makeup or my costume yet. I start to panic because i'm not prepared and my mom is trying to talk me down and put on an old costume that won't fit and i'm freaking out. Sometimes its a little different, like it's 7 o clock (midpoint in our TOT as a kid) and i realize it's halloween and i'm not out TOTing. I get this dream several times a year, but strangely not around halloween but in the winter or spring. I think it stems from the one year when i was a kid i was so depressed about some other stuff i didn't even go out for TOT and ended up regretting it forever.

I always get these dreams. The most recent was that it was 5:30, and nothing NOTHING was prepared for the party at 7:00 and my husband was making me go shopping with him for the kids' costumes and his own costume. Ahhh the panic. They get worse as the party gets closer!

i dont get the "not prepared" dream i get the "im dissapointed with the haunt this year dream" even though my house is usually the best in the neighborhood cause nobody else really gets that into it.
