I attempted my first corpse head/skull this year and it actually turned out pretty great! I will post a pic today or tomorrow. I made it out of paper mache and it's pretty creepy. Question is, now what do I do? I have a hallow creepy head and only 2 weeks to make something out of it for my party. I know some people make PVC bodies.. but I am looking for something quicker and simpler. I might make a rib cage but I don't have time to do too much more paper mache. I have lots of burlap and other things to work with but I'm drawing a blank. Help!

Ha, I just made a dummy out of Bubble Wrap, he is sitting in a chair in my office. Took me ten minutes. We had bubble wrap that was 4ft wide, I just rolled it to make the arms and legs and body. Of course, you would not give it a head, then you can use gloves, blucky hands or make wire hands with masking tape. Then dress it in the outfit of your choosing.
I told him not to smoke in the office and he's drinking all the coffee!

Or find some long underwear in a men's small or medium size you can sew shut on the ends of the arms and legs then stitch the top to the bottom, stuff it with plastic bags, then dress it. Put something through the neck which spans the length of the body to support your new head. then sew the neck with heavy thread in a running stitch and tighten it around the support (pvc or broomstick or surveryors stake.)

Oh, thanks for the tips. I've been so freakin busy getting ready I forgot about this post. The head is still sitting on table but I'm still planning on making a body! I don't have any bubble wrap but I bet I can pick up some long undies for cheap!

PVC is actually much faster than you may think...I was able to build a complete body--two legs bent at the knees, hips, spine, two arms bent at the elbows, a neck, and a cardboard ribcage--in about an hour. I don't remember the cost, but it wasn't too much. One 8' length of PVC and a few joints. Voila. Throw some old clothes on it, and you're in business. Of course, you could always just scrap wood, or just stuff some old clothes with leaves and yard debris, scarecrow-style...use duck tape and coat hangers for some rough internal shaping.
