I dont know if my floodlight holder was defective or not but plugged it in with the blue led spotlight and stood back to see what it was going to look like and It made a sound like a saw coming on lit up orange and burnt my porch

Oh and scared the crap out of me

WOW! Sounds like way too much voltage or a short somewhere. What does (did) the light call for? What were you using for a power supply?

I got the bulbs from minions web and I used a floodlight holder like you use for the regular floodlight bulbs. The bulb is melted inside of it right now so I dont know what the voltage was. Its not on the box anywhere that I can find. Its the same set up pretty much everyone else is using on here. Thats why I was wondering if it was just me. I think Im going to skip the extra lighting this year. SO far the best scare Ive gotten this Halloween season. YIKES!!

Have you contacted Minion's Web to ask them what the problem might be?

All of my LED's are from minions webb and I have never had any problems. I use the 36 and the 18 LED's and I also use them with regular flood light holders. They dont even get hot. I would call them as well but you may also want to check your outlet as well as try using another one in a different area.

Thats just how my luck is lol!! It was probably just a bad floodlight holder. Thats why I was wondering if anyone had the same thing happen to them. Do they make holders made just for leds? Some of the ones I have wont fit in a regular holder because of the waterproof ring /seal.

I also use LED floods/spots from Minion's Web, and the only problems I've ever had was using the bulbs in an upright position without covering the bulb and holder from water penetration. Totally my bad. It made a huge freaking noise and shot some sparks when the electricity hit the water that had puddled in the bottom of the stakelight. I now cover my bulbs/holders with baggies and staple them shut under the light...

Is it possible that the bulb was cracked and had moisture in it? Or was it one of the older ones that wasn't as well water-proofed as they are these days? I've never had a stakelight go bad that dramatically, but if they do get water in them, the contact can get rusty and cause a crappy connection...

    OK, first
    CALL ME!
    973 842 8687

Second, lets rewind and look at the set up.

    Floodlight holder type?
    New or used?
    Which size bulb?
    Orientation?
    Location?
    Rain? Dew? Frost?

Did you get/read the new pretty printed box?
Or Did you get a plain white box?

    Let me know.

Flame outs, as I will call them, are typically a result of moisture getting between the buttom and htreads of the bulb socket and shorting the bulb.

This will happen with any bulb, but is more...animated... with LED bulbs.

I suspect we have a set up problem.

I used a green floodlight holder, new last year, I have the plain white box, was on a covered porch , had just taken it out of storage. Im not saying that it was because of your product that this happened. I just wanted to know if it had happened to anyone else to see if it was the floodlight holder like I have been saying it was all along. It was just like nothing I have ever heard or seen before. Didnt trip our breaker though but left a nice scorch mark on our porch. How do you keep moisture from getting in the floodlight holders? If you have to remove the seal that originally comes with the holder for the bulb to fit inside of it then how do you keep it from shorting out? I was going to try the plastic bag idea but am a little leery now after what happened. Sorry if you think I am blaming your product because Im not. I just know that alot of people use the same set up as me and thought I would ask. Im pretty bummed about the whole situation because it was the blue led which is my favorite one of all the bulbs I bought from you. Thanks
