Driving around my local area (San Gabriel, California) I see a lot fewer houses decorated. Usually the Halloween enthusiasts have stuff up at the beginning of the month or sometimes even a little before. Houses I have noticed in previous years, most of 'em, anyway, are without decorations thus far. And that is a good handful--people who usually have a foam pumpkin or two, or some skulls, or inflatables, or something.

I am not talking about everyone, thank goodness, but it does seem a lot less decorated around here...anyone notice something similar going on?

Generally I find a lot of people just can't be bothered about Halloween, it seems a very low priority to a lot of folks, and I was expecting a little more "spirit" this year. So I'm a little surprised at the weak cultural expression.
    "WHAT'S out there?"

"I don't know.......it was little and brown, and low to the ground!"

Maybe they're still drained from the heat. There was nothing around here until this weekend then BOOM. A bunch of houses decorated over night.

I also live in California and it seems that less and less people get into Halloween every year. But, I think a lot of people are leary about putting their stuff out before Halloween due to vandalism.. So, hopefully we will see more as the big day gets closer???

    Hey Tom

    Keep looking!

I have seen a ton of decorations in Burbank.

And in my neighborhoood we have already seen 10 houses with some type of decorations (last year no one decorated except us).

Not much around here, it is still a little early, though... I keep telling myself.

I was just noticing this too this week. Normally there are lots of houses, this year no one has anything out. It's really surreal.

We're about average. A couple other houses on our street have some blow molds out. I put my witch up yesterday and my fence/columns went up today. Driving around I'm seeing some stuff out and yeah, it's still early. I find that unlke Xmas, where people will put stuff out the day after Thanksgiving, Halloween is often a last minute thing for some, and decor goes up a few days before.
