I guess my non-halloween DH might be helping out with my haunt this year. He stopped into one of our local restaurants to pick up dinner tonight; and the owner, a neighbor of ours, asked him if we were getting ready to decorate for halloween yet. He said yeah my wife will be doing something (he has no idea what's planned or hasn't cared to ask) and she expressed that she hoped we were going to do those moving eyeballs in the window again. Haha.
Two years ago DH borrowed a projector from work at my request and in addition to my regular decorations we ran some of the Hallowindow scenes in our upstairs bedroom over 3 nights up to and including halloween. Had a great response that year from ToTers and adults alike. Afterwards my DH said he didn't want to borrow the projector again for my halloween projects, despite it being the talk of the neighborhood. So in light of this I asked him what he told our neighbor when she asked about Hallowindows, and he said "yeah, maybe". I said surprised, "we are?!" He said "yeah I could probably borrow the projector from work again."!!!! I had pretty much written him off as far as getting involved in halloween decorating so I'm suddenly excited by this turn of events.
Anyone else finding that your neighbors' reactions are helping to change a reluctant spouse's opinion on decorating and getting into the halloween spirit?

my husband has definately shown a huge turn around. he likes halloween, but isn't into decorating, but this year, I pulled the neighbor ladies in, they pulled there hubbies in and by default and a little bit of arm twisting, I pulled my husband in. lol. I also promised him beer if he helped out with some of the bigger projects.

My Dad used to be a real grinch about Christmas decorations...Mom would decorate every year and he would complain about the cost of the tree and electricity - yadda yadda yadda. But by they time they reached they're mid-60s, he had gotten addicted to the positive feedback from the neighbours. It took him awhile, but he eventually got with the program.

00% YES Spookie! The hubby complains the whole time but the second someone expresses excitement about what we are we doing - well them he wants in on it. You know, just in time to look good. Chaps my butt bcuz we could do so much if he would just help me. I mean how sad is it that my husband works with special effects? I mean the guy worked on the Pirates movies! But yet he won't help me with my props because I go overboard and he's "not storing another thing" . Ugh I ink I feel better now that I got that off my chest. Lol

Yep my husband was not into it like I am. But lately I have seen him saying you know I can do that for you. Or he will see something saying would you like that? He has always helped me from when we first got married but didn't feel he was into it like I was. But now most of the kids are grown up and we have grandchildren now he seems to be more into it. Plus I show a GREAT interest in his flying love to just take off in a plane someplace or just fly around, so I think he feels he owes me his Interest in Halloween. It all comes out even in the end.
Matter of fact I made a deal with him that I wouldn't buy any more halloween props for this year and next year in order to buy a snake enclosure. Just the other night he bought me the Newest Hallowindow DVD. I was so excited about it. It just came in the mail today.Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth-shattering KABOOM!!

My Husband helps me put the Halloween props out, he has zero involvement in making them. Yearly he'll start moaning about the cost around the end of August and usually stops wittering on about it on Halloween morning (unless I need more candy and force him to get it from the shop) then he moans up until around lunchtime.
Halloween night he stands around wearing his awful orange "this is my halloween costume" t-shirt (which he's worn for the past 4 years in a row) talking to people and eating the extra candy we purchased, then at the end of the night, when there's loads of leftover candy, he'll smugly point out that we didn't need any extra after all
I just usually say "oh shut up yah miserable git"
My kids are super they get involved and scare our TOTS

My HB helps carry the stuff out but did nothing to build any of it and when I mention that little fact he explodes...LOL!
I really don't care if he takes all the credit...I just like to razz him.
I heard him talking to someone who was looking at the cemetery and he managed to stay very vague about who made all of it. He said things like "it took this or that" and "the crankghost was his wife's baby"
