    Hi all,

Going all out on my house for the first time this year and decided that from this Halloween onwards I want to theme my decorating.

    I had settled on the idea below;

    Haunted Hospital:
Bloody sheets in the windows with handprints on and written in blood 'Haunted Hospital - OPEN'

Gravestones in the window, arms & legs hanging up.

A big blow up skeleton in a coffin on the roof lit up

Cobwebs everywhere, do not enter banner.

    Skulls hanging/on spears/sticks etc.

But then today at my local £1 store I saw this prop that really caught my eye....it wasn't even very well put together, it was definitley worth a £1 if not less but do you know when you just LIKE something and regardless you must have it, well this was that sort of deal.

It was a popcorn box filled with eyes. and it read Eye Popcorn or something like that and then I started thinking of another theme.

    Horror Cinema:
Popcorn boxes around the windows, with pumpkin/skeleton lights illuminating them.

Sheets again but instead saying Horror Cinema - Open, and Now Showing: Your Funeral or something like that.

Skeleton still up on the roof, cobwebs and banner still there.

But also I could have horror film theme tunes playing; Exorcist, Halloween, Friday 13th

and I could have perhaps cut outs of Jason/Freddy up in the top windows etc.

Could have some clapper boards around written in red chalk RIP etc etc.

    What does everyone think??
    Thanks,
    Matt x

Oo, they are both good in their own right really, hehe. I suppose it's down to what will you find easier and cheaper to do?
My theme is costing a fortune and is hard to find all the necessary props etc so next year I will be making sure it's cheaper and easier to do!lol

Yeah...cost is of course a main factor.

I think they will both be equally as expensive.

I just dont know which one to do, so hard to decide!! lol

What theme is it that you are doing?

Thought I could also give the trick or treaters small packs of popcorn as well in keeping with the cinema theme!

I think then the latter could be more glamourous i.e. people could dress as movie stars/starlets - but all 'dead' or 'horror' versions. Could be a grand opening anniversary of an old famous cinema previously blown up which every year becomes home to the haunted ghosts of all those who died.
Different and maybe more fun than a hospital as it leaves the costumes open for loads of ideas!

p.s. are you in the US?? Only I'm dying to ask (no pun intended) why, at Halloween, do people dress in normal fancy dress and not just horror costumes?? lol. I find it strange as Halloween to me is spooky or gory and in the uk, we tend to go for actual halloween costumes as opposed to general ones. ?? been baffling me for ages!

God I'm so thick ... if only I had just looked up at your username! hahaha. Doh!
Oh cool. It's nice to see other people in the UK making an effort to celebrate. It's definately getting bigger here though as alot more shops are selling stuff. Bought loads from the pound shop last yr! Amazed at some of the cheap prices!

I'm doing the twisted fairy tales theme and there is alot to do and everything is so hard to find and expensive (. Worst thing, I had quite a few people last yr but not everyone can come this yr so it's only going to be a small party and I am wishing I had just done a Victorian Gothic meal instead - but hey ho!

I like both themes HallowEveUK. I think the hospital could lend itself to more bodies and body parts if you chose to go that way. Not sure how plentiful materials are out your way. You could have a pathology dept with body parts in big jars. Easy enough to have accident victims or surgery victims made out of skull heads and arms and legs (with filler under the sheets for the body). ToTers could be invited to "come in for a checkup". Maybe the check up form could include a few questions like Alive or Dead, Blood type, Willing to donate body parts. If you have people who could be actors in your haunt, they could be patients or doctors or nurses and engage the ToTers.

The Horror Cinema is a great idea too. You could make a marque and add movie posters. Maybe a red carpet or a red rope area for the ToT movie goers. ToTers can be given a ticket upon entering to be redeemed for theater candy or popcorn upon leaving. If you have actors, maybe some could be dressed as movie monsters ie Dracula, the Mummy, Swamp Monster.

Hey! Thanks for the great ideas.

I have decided to go with the Horror Cinema idea. and have come up with quite a few good ideas myself.

I'll be doing a blog on my whole experience of decorating the house this year and will post it up asap for all to see!

oi Hallows, I did a mad scientists lab a couple years ago that worked out really well even had me roommate as the victime and my nephew as the scientist...more blood and parts the better, nothing wrong if your neighbors think you've gone mental.
Suddenly I heard a tapping, as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. You heard me rapping, right?
