Horrible tropical rain storm all night! Now it's headed straight for me right now. Another example of how difficult it is to consider ANY setting up outside so early. October usually treats us badly! I hope this tropical weather has blown itself out in four weeks from now- two if you need to start early! This is going to be a very tricky weather month, I'm afraid.

Last year was wind. Seemed the whole month of October was windy, and I'm talking about gusty, sustained damaging winds. These storms can dump a lot of water. I'm hoping to start setting up the outdoor display sometime next week but I may hold off a bit if it's a constant soaking. I agree, October can be a crapshoot as far as weather. Let's hope for the best.

I only need one more dry weekend to be set for Halloween. That's it. Everything else can be done inside in my increasingly unnavigable garage and basement.

I only put two props out so far, a sign and a pumpkin holder, and I just spent ten minutes digging through mud to replant the big-old countdown sign. When the ground hardens up, and adding a piece of rebar for extra support.

We needed the rain, just not all at once or now that my garden is toast.

I'm just glad there's no water in the basement. We spent some dough & had our foundation reparged & drains put in & on one of our BIG but quick thunderstorms we had water. again. We've had so many basement floods for various reasons from our well pump crapping out to the hot water heater rusting out at the bottom to foundation issues, that I wouldn't be too upset if one day I came home & the entire basement was cemented in (minus the stuff we want to keep & need like the washer & dryer & giant TV, etc.).

OMG!!!! My Haunt starts this weekend, Saturday night, and I am realllllly stressin out now. I still have lighting to set up. I went out on the trail on Wednesday and pulled all my tombstones for fear of trees falling and wiping everything out before any victims got to see a thing.

I have a quarter mile of trail to contend with with a few muddy spots. All summer long no friggin rain and now "POW" you got to kidding me. Luckily the rain stayed way east of Jersey for most of the day yesterday so I was spared the brunt of the storm, thank the Gods of Halloween!!!

We will have our work cut out for us this afternoon and tomorrow though.
    Wish me luck!

I've had about 16+ inches in my area since Wednesday. There are haunted hayrides that are supposed to start here today, but unforunately they're probaly going to be postponed.

I'm hoping for a dry fall. Hate rain on Halloween! Segways right into snow. Drat.

It's just a jump to the left.....
And then a step to the right....

We have rain and heavy winds, lots of limbs, branches and wires down. Last night I kept hearing sounds like something breaking. I kept going outside to check, over and over. Luckily nothing broke and my witch fence peeker stayed in placed! Kept my pumpkin in the last two nights though.
