As much as I love Halloween,I feel pretty drained and can't seem to get into the Halloween spirit.
My Mother had been in the Hospital with MRSA,she is now out and I just had a needle Biopsy(Breast),tried to get my things together for my yard display but just can't concentrate.
ok,I am done venting!

just don't try to force it. We're still in September and there's plenty of time to ease into the spirit of October. Take some Autumnal walks, set a few days as markers where you will permit yourself to buy some Halloween 'stuff' (don't over-indulge). Plan and build anticipation rather than going at it full speed and hoping that somehow you'll flip a switch.
Lkie most things in life a slow build usually results ina far more exciting finish than going all out from the off.
That'll be £50. Now get off my couch!!!
:-)
Seriously - Good luck with everything . You'll find your grooveThe steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see vampires fly,
And harpies of upper air. That flutter, laugh and stare.

I understand what you mean. I was busy taking care of my mom who we knew wasn't going to make it to the end of the year. I didn't make any plans for building props and wasn't even sure if I would have a haunt this year. Then my hubby got sick so I was taking care of both of them. We lost mom in June and hubby is still sick and the doctors haven't been able to figure out why. Seems every time we get a glimpse of the light at the end of the tunnel it gets extinguished. I wasn't able to get in the Halloween mood either. But I go and check out the Halloween stuff in the stores and it raises my spirits. I pick up a few things here and there and managed to get one small prop made. I know that the bad times won't last and there is always next year if we can't get the haunt together this year. Right now it looks like we will be able to but that may change. So go buy a little pumpkin you can keep where you can see it, keep a chin up and send me a pm if you need a big ol pumpkiny hug. Good luck with the results of your biopsy. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

I too have had my woe's and I know people probably get tired of hearing about mine. But when I can't go all out, or the party has to be canceled...I just decorate SOMETHING.....even if's it's my office, my car or a desk where I spend all my time. I do that so I can get something out of Halloween. Then I also hang here and get my Halloween fix by reading about, taking notes for ideas for when I can do it again and love seeing all the pictures, hearing the tales and following the links to some great stuff.
Some ideas to help keep it going when you can't go all out:
- Start a story thread here where everyone contributes to the story.
- Hit the chat room for some one on one discussion
- Play your favorite Halloween songs...I built my own play list
- Watch your favorite Halloween movie(s)/shows
- Invite a best friend over for a night of popcorn and Halloween movies or for a real small Halloween dinner
- Take a night and go to a haunt
- Take your camera out on Halloween and take pictures of other peoples haunts - makes for ideas, memories and
- Make a Halloween scrapbook of pictures from past Halloweens or the pictures you've taken of other haunts.
- Make a spooky bubble bath night on Halloween with your favorite Halloween candles, chocolate dipped strawberrys and a bottle of champaign. Lite the candles, turn off the lights, play your spooky tunes, eat, drink and be Merry Halloween!!!

Sorry to hear about all the things going on for you right now. I'm sure when Halloween gets closer you will be more in the spirit of things. I've seen many threads on here when there are certain years people just don't get into the spirit for various reasons. I agree with Yoohaloo, don't try to force yourself into it or you will end up hating the whole thing.
I hope whatever your biopsy was for, comes back negative, good luck.Hello, I want my book. Bonjour, je veux mon livre.

awwww... I am sorry to hear that. I hope that you and your mother are doing better.
There are no rules stating that you have to celebrate halloween every year or that each years celebration has to be bigger than the last.
Figure out what you enjoy about Halloween and find ways to celebrate it that don't drain you further.Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable
And lightness has a call that's hard to hear- E.A. Saliers

Thanks all!
I hate being a downer..lol,I am usually a happy go lucky kind a person, don't like being down, just need to try and pick myself up...it was a breast biopsy to see if I have Cancer,my mother had it twice and also thyroid, she is a survivor, although my Grandmother and Aunt weren't so lucky....
I guess I am pretty lucky though,my cat is the one who brought it to my attention,he would always knead in that area, then found the lump due to him with his claws, they say animals know things like that.
appreciate the pick me up,advice and support, gives me a better outlook!
