Hello everyone! i'm new here and i just wanted to know if anyone has used, or plans on using "treat bags" this Halloween? i got some really cool one from K-mart. they had Charlie Brown ones, and Mickey Mouse ones and some orange and black pumpkin and bat ones on white background with Happy Halloween wording on it. the CB and MM bags were $2.00 i believe and the orange and black bags were $1.50. each bag had about 30-50 bags. i'll try to post pics as i have already been filling them up and folding over the top then taping them down with scotch tape. they are really cute, and sorta time consuming, but i had talk radio on to keep me going and entertained. oh, and here's what i have put inside/what i am giving out this year:
1) skittles fizzled fruits
2) reese's pieces
3) assorted tiny snickers, milky ways, twix, 3 musketeers, etc.
4) junior mints
what are you all giving out this year?
p.s. i love this site, and i am a huge halloween/horror geek!

I totally packed like 200 treat bags already! This is my first year of making them but it was totally fun. I put a bunch of glow in the dark bugs and spider rings in too. I know when I was a kid I was totally stoke when I went TOTing and I got big treat bags.lol.

ok, i got the pictures up on my profile if anyone is interested. hopefully soon i will get the hang of posting pics in the thread, but for now i am a simple monkey! when i was a little kid my family would all sit around the table and each of us kid would put in one piece of candy in a plastic sandwich bag and that was what we gave out. i can't remember how many years we did that, but it wasn't many. this is the first year i am doing the treat bags as an adult and i am excited. i bet i will score points with the kids. since Halloween is on a sunday this year, i expect more than the usual amount of TOT's, and i will probably do 400-500 bags.

We do a haunted Pirate ship theme at our place, so we pass out little Pirate "Booty" bags to our ToT's.
We pack them with gold wrapped chocolate coins, skull rings, treasure maps and all sorts of "Piratey" fare....
!!!
We buy the bags and all the "booty" from the Oriental Trading Company. The stencils come from Michael's Crafts.
These are the bags we did in 2008:

We did these last year:

Zombiebxrs, the peanuts character treat bags are very cute! Wow, 400-500 bags you'll be making? I'm also in the Chicago burbs and we're lucky to get 50-75 TOTs! Last year was the first time I made up bags. I'll be doing it again this year. It was great having them all premade to hand out instead of having a basket full of candy pieces. I did have the basket, too, because I ran out of filled bags. I had several different kinds of candy and a spider ring in the bags. I also gave them glow bracelets, but not in the bags. I haven't really looked around for the candy this year, so don't know which kinds I'll be giving out. But probably 3 pieces and a couple silly bandz in the bag, and then a finger lights not in the bag.
BTW, welcome to the Halloween Forum--Glad you joined!

This will be our first year using bags as well, going to put together 100 of them though that contents at this time are still up in the air.

I think I am going to try doing bags this year, hopefully will prevent my husband from giving out ginormouse handfuls of candy, only to run out and have to ransack the house looking for something to hand out.
