I feel so bad because I havent decorated my new home yet, the people around here are really against me decorating my home, Heck I even feel convicted about decorating my home, Im scared it will be to gory or bloody, I feel I have to really watch what I do in this area, I am located in Utah but, Im know there are other people that decorate here lol... Im just frustrated, I have spina biffida and had major surgery 2 years ago & am still down, But really want to decorate this year, the first year I moved here I have a prop up and most of my neighbors turned there noses at it, So I havent decorated since then, Oh man what should I do? I have alot of props like reapers and such but Im so scared to put them up.. Any Ideas? there has never been any kids that trick or treat here anyways, and these people around me wont even turn on there lights anyways, Im very frustrated! Thanks for letting me Vent!

Decorate your home, as it is your home and your source of joy so decorate away. Unless you have a HOA to start dropping crazy fines and crap on you I say decorate. If your neighbors don't like it well they can't act like big boys and girls and suck it up. Every one deserves a source of joy and happiness and as long as it's not physically harming someone I say go for it.

I need my Halloween every year and I wouldn't give it up just to please my neighbors. I won't go out of my wait to piss them off but it's my house and I'll decorate it however I want. Life tends to kick you often enough without letting your neighbors join in. Decorate and have fun. It's the time for imagination.

Do what makes you happy. Don't worry about making them happy. Its your house do what you want.

Being happy it an important step to recovery from any surgery.

I know i had 2 done on my spine.

That could be a very long discussion opening a can of worms I don't wish to see lol.

Do what you love to do and don't let a few bad apples spoil the fun. I'm sure there are a lot more people in your area who would support your decorating. I came from a Mormon family and I know how it feels to be treated like some pariah because I'm not a believer (which is pretty ironic since Mormons are no strangers to being marginalized themselves). I still get pamphlets in the mail every October from some crazy neighbor who hates my pirate display. I don't complain when they put up their own gaudy Christmas display. It's just narrow-mindedness.

As long as you don't antagonize the homeowner's association (if you have one) by breaking any rules re: decorating, I say go for it. That said, I know for a fact that if I were to put out a hanged man or severed body parts I'd get all kinds of complaints. Fortunately gore and executions aren't my thing, so no worries there.

There will always be whackadoos that will find something to complain about. I don't know of any Mormons in my neighborhood, so I can't speak to how they react to Halloween decorations, but I do know that some born-agains and Southern Baptists start foaming at the mouth about "the devil's holiday." I ignore those jack@sses, and the occasional Chick tracts they so kindly deposit on my front lawn.

I agree with others..just what you like and the devil with anyone else....shoot if I had a crowd like that around here I do what I could to make them feel ashamed to even be in proximity to my happy haunt.. heh heh So gross em' out, gore it out, light it out, and above all scare it out and let the neighbors freak !!! Good Luck !

Hello, Thanks for all your support, There is no home owners association here, I own a half acre of land that is all mine, No one owns my property buy me, Although It feels like it some times, I guess I should have mentioned that... Thank you all for your support, Im thinking on it, I mean I asked this neighbor what she thought about it just before I posted this thread, And she acted all shocked that I would even decorate, But she sure said christmas was a GO! Which I do decorate at christmas and all is good, it is just this halloween decorating,, UGGG... I do believe in God and am just decorating for fun not because I am believing in satan or something, and I feel very convicted about it,,, This sucks! Christmas is a pagan holiday too... hell It just makes me mad,,, I was only doing it to bring kids to this neighborhood, there is only 12 houses on the block, but to the north of our area there is some condos and apartments down the way, so I thought I would put fliers up to let them know they can get tricks and treats here,,, just a lil fun that all Really! There are alot of older LDS folks here, (nothing against them at all) I just think you need to loosen up a lil... that all... Like I said Before UGGG.. Thanks for all your support, and if any of you want to come on up here to utah and help with my haunt then that would be wonderful,, I need all the support and ideas I can get to pull it off, It would have to be due or Die to pull it off LMAO... thanks Guys/Gals
