This past Saturday the wife and I went to the Headless Horsemen here in NY. On the hayride and in several of the haunts they did a great little trick. They had a person in a harness jump out at you. Some had bungees, others didn't.
The bungees were usually used when the person was higher than us. Looked toooooo cool.

    Is anyone else doing this?

Yes! I have a buddy who is a mountain climber and this year he will be coming out of our huge maple tree above the TOTS. I will let you know how it turns out.

    Sounds like a great hayride!
They started doing that along the Haunted Trolley ride in Excelsior a couple years back.
It is a very cool and surprising effect, especially in a pretty low budget set up like our trolley.

I used to do something similar at my house. We used a spare backpack as a makeshift harness (cut two legholes in the bottom). And after stringing me up through an upstairs window, put a grim reaper cloak over me & the harness. A rubber noose was attached to the rope which extended out of a hole at the top of my cloak back & the noose placed tightly around my neck.

From pretty much any angle it appeared I was hanging by my neck. Then just added some gloves & newspapers to make it look I was a hanging dummy & we REALLY caught people off guard, especially after they'd decide to touch me to see if I were real - off would come my cloak & I'd swipe at em or something. Fun year!
