Ever since I have seen the Grandin Road Headless Horseman I have wanted one for my haunt, however the 599.00 price tag is a bit above by means. If you don't know what it looks like here he is:
Yesterday I got the Improvements catalog by email and low and behold the have a lower priced one $118.00 on sale, although not the same quality ;
I know many of you builders will chime in and say I could build it but I am just not that talented.
To make matters worse, I was in Kmart tonight and they have 2 Jasons in the box on sale for 149.00
So what to do?

I think yours is a very good substitute! I would just switch out the pumpkin for one of those darker looking ones like Big Lots had last year.

I think you could do a lot with the "cheap" horseman and still come out for a lot less than $599. Really, all he needs is a better pumpkin, gloves, some alterations on those pants, and then the tall boots. Oh - and a sword! Neither one has a sword but that is a must! Yeah, you can do it - I say go for it!

I think he's pretty cool. But I'm tight with my money so that might not help. The jason is a steal at that price. Think about them going as collectors iteams in the future.
halloween is a super cool holiday.

I agree with Madame, just make a few alterations so he resembles the orig a little more.

Grandin Road takes wonderful pictures of it's products. They can make me want to buy an inflatable with their pictures!
I say go for the Improvements version. They had it on HSN during their Halloween show and it looked fine. I always tweak my animatronics anyway. My skeleton coachman was just transformed today into a killer clown. I change their appearance most years to mix it up.

Ok just get the headless jason already! J/K! Lol!
I would however go with your gut instinct so you will not be disappointed after the purchase. Best of luck choosing TD!A Halloween prop is a terrible thing to waste..
