This is soooo sad
But if you are working at night, you can always throw a halloween themed breakfast or lunch.
Leave a basket of candy for the tots
Or schedule/attend a Halloween party on another night.
And this might be a blessing in disguise
last year our halloween party got cancelled because our co- host had to work but we enjoyed a low key halloween and he loved it because he basically got paid to party...Darkness has a hunger that's insatiable

I cater some Halloween parties so working that day is not a problem. I do miss the days of old when I got to go toting in the neighborhood. These days kids don't even have that opportunity what with crime and suspicious acts/people perpetrated upon them. Last year, I only had 2 kids show up for ToT and they were the neighbor's kids from next door. (They're over often enough I ought to just give them a copy of my key...

I worked on halloween before when I ran a sub-shop back in Arkansas...I dressed up, went skeleton staff (pun intended) I had them dress up too and we decorated the shop a bit. The customers who came in, especially the ones who were without partners for the holiday really appreciated us and hung around. I ended up swinging by a local walmart and picking up an extra halloween CD to add to the ambiance. We had a really good night.

I take some of my vacation time the last 2 weeks of October so I dont have to worry about it.

You're not alone...I'll be working all night and leave for work around 6pm so probably won't even get to hand out any candy before I go...

I have to work 2pm to mid this year and next year......I'm gonna miss all the fun. But, family first, they seem to have gotten used to that "roof over the head, meal plan" thing.

I started taking every Friday off since Sept 17 through the end of October so I have 3 day weekends and I took the whole last week off in October....That seems to be working out nice so we still have time to go do Halloween stuff on Friday's and I still have the weekend to work on the haunted walk through....I second saving vacation for October!.....ZR
