This post made me start thinking about other Halloween related Murphy's Laws

One law that always affects me is:

You will get at least 1 more tot than you have candy for....

and if you buy extra candy, you will have hardly any tots that year.

What murphy's laws have affected you?

mine is: the one prop that goes together perfectly, will end up being the ONE thing that breaks the day of, and there will be NO WAY to fix it, because the hardware store will be completely out... for 3 states.

Not a drop of rain for two whole months and then the weatherman predicts 90% chance of thunderstorms on Halloween night!

I bought a 700 watt and a 1000 watt fog machine last year. I intended to use it with a chiller for ground fog. On Halloween, it was way too cold and windy for ground fog or any kind of fog. So. . .

Rule #6 - Buy a new fog machine and, well you know the rest.

Not so much an example of Murphy's Law as a correlation that I've noticed between the weather and the overall TOT count. (for me, anyway):

If the weather is nice and warm, say 55 and above, and no or little wind 1/2-1/3 as many TOTs

If it's cold, say 40's and below, winds of say 20 knots and higher driving rain, sleet, etc, 2-3x as many TOTs...

If you say a prop will be an easy build, it will end up making your life a living hell!

If you struggle all summer with your flowers beds, they will all burst into bloom the week you're ready to set up your Halloween display!

If you test your fog machine before halloween to make sure it work.....it won't work on halloween day.

You can always find every prop you own... except the one you are looking for

The candy one is true for me. 2 years ago I didn't buy enough candy and ended up running out too early, the following year I bought ALOT, and well...HALF the trick or treaters. I just don't know what to do this year!!
