Ok so I've hit all the stores so far this season.

Target: Huge disapointment, given how awesome they've been in years past.
Walmart: Weak, although it seems my local walmarts are not fully stocked yet
Spirit: Meh. Most animatronics not out yet in this area, I'm reserving judgement til they are full.
    Walgreens: Some good finds
    Riteaid: local riteaids kinda weak.
Dollar Tree: Super weak, but, it's a dollar store
Big lots: Huge disapointment. The few things they had that looked cool were way expensive. Had a cool resin skull there for $9. Walgreens had it for $6.

Then I hit K-Mart today. Wow. I was IMPRESSED. They didnt have everything I'd have liked to see (I like household decorations... like the skull candles Target used to have, wall hangings, etc) but what they did have was pretty impressive. Decent prices on most things. They had a butler that recited some Poe and it looked REALLY good (although it had a glitch! Theres a raven on his shoulder, and at one point in the dialogue, the raven goes "Squak!" and the buter's mouth moves .

Some cool skulls, some body parts, a few blow up things for those that like them... AND HARDLY ANY GLITTER!

I was totally impressed. It was the first store I walked into this year and wasnt a bit let down.

And at least around the area I live in, K-Mart is bottom of the barrel as far as department stores go. I almost forgot about it, I never shop there.

For halloween, I'll be grabbing a few things there though!

The Costco skull is very well made, I picked it up about 3 weeks ago and it is my favorite thing I have gotten so far this year. I got a pedestal for it and am putting it near my entrance. I agree with your assessment of the stores also, unfortunately there aren't any Kmarts where I live.

darn. the nearest Kmart to me is like a 30 minute drive up into the country/mountains. No, seriously, it's the ONLY Kmart within 30 miles, and it's out in the middle of nowhere.. lol. I wish I had the energy to make the drive and check it out.
How many days do I have left?

I wasn't impressed with our local kmart. Its seems like the detail and the quality of materials has been cheapened, probably to fight increasing prices. But then again that is a general statement around all the department stores. I really miss shoping halloween pre-recession.

Our local K was great too.

Walmart, Walgreens, Target, Dollar store... WEAK!

I'm a little sad this year with halloween supplies and options. It must be our turn to have no good finds other than a few select stores.

No K-Marts around here but the Target in Colma (for any Cali folk) has some very nifty decorations for the house AND outside

I think the next place on my list is going back to Target AND checking out the local Walmart... but it's 30 mins away
