We have a Beagle named Lizzy who is so funny at Halloween. When she was a puppy she was really freaked by a neighbor's Trashcan Trauma prop. Every Halloween since the dog pulls hard on the leash to keep away from that prop when we walk by. She also is suspicious of our gravedigger (see my avie) and always does that Beagle "RRROOOOOOOOOOOO" at him when we first bring him out.

Last Halloween Buckaneerbabe made her an Underdog costume and our Chocolate Cocker was Wonder Woman.

Glad to know someone elses dogs is freaked out by the props! My girls surprised me with a vampire that pops up and says "welcome to our graveyard" and laughs. needless to say all hell broke loose, the dogs (3, 2 labs and a birddog mix) all tried to exit the room at the same time.....what tuff guard dogs we have!! My daughter dressed her MALE lab last year as a princess, complete with a hat that has a tassle that hangs off it.......

OMG, how cute! I love Beagles (see my Avie - LOL!) I think this is the first year I'm taking Jack TOTing. I don't know about a costume, tho. My hubby thinks dogs should be tough & naked. He'll probably just wear his H'ween bandana.

The first year I made my cemetery, I made a black cat out of plywood and he ARRROOOOOOO'd at it until he figured out it wasn't going to run from him. What's funny is that we have 3 indoor cats, so he's used to them.

LOL - There is a truck driver at my work whose wife makes 3-4 costumes for their dogs every year (and for Christmas, birthdays & Detroit Tiger's Opening Day) & he insists on bringing in pics for us. Those poor dogs don't look happy at all. I post the pics on a bulletin board behind my desk called Ron's Wall of Shame.

My Annabelle is a beagle/doxie mix and sits up all the time, just like yours. Honestly, she could get away with just about anything by sitting up and looking all cute at me! She's very opinionated and does not aprove of dogs wearing clothes so no costume for her - or our other dogs. She will circle them and bark her very loud bark until we take off the offending clothing. On Halloween night, she helped out by adding her distinctive "BAROOOOOOO!" to our sound effects. It actually blended in just fine!

My dogs at my mom's take a couple of days to get used to the props in the front yard. They see the ghouls hanging from the trees and start barking...then it turns to growling....then it turns into staring....then they just don't care anymore. This happens over the course of a week. They don't wear costumes, but my littlest, the mini doxie, has to wear a sweater in the months of Oct-March because she shivers outside. She's also the only girl so the 2 boys make fun of her by barking at her and chasing her around the yard for about 3 mins every time they go outside.

My bunny at the apartment just sniffs everything new we put out. I'm more concerned with her stealing my bags of cobwebs because she thinks they're fun to chew on rather than her being scared.
Her blood coursed through my veins sweeter than life itself. And as it did, Lestat's words made sense to me. I knew peace only when I killed and when I heard her heart in that terrible rhythm, I knew again what peace could be.

My husband and I adopted a 4-yr old border collie mix from a shelter this year, and I cannot wait to dress her up for Halloween. We've always had cockers before, and they were so sensitive about their ears, that basically all we could do to dress them up was the bandana thing. This year though, I have bought a glow in the dark skeleton outfit for Shelby, and once she is bedecked, we'll let her have the freedom of the "cemetary". (Within the fence, that is!)

This will be my beagle Phoebe's first Halloween so we will see how she does. She isn't really afraid of anything and is very curious so it should be interesting.

We got one of those rubber bullriders you strap to their back for our Australian Cattle Dog last year. She didn't really love it so much.

Any ideas on how to paint a dog black?

Love dogs in costumes! We had some cute puppehs in costume come round with the tots last year - this year I'm going to make a few little doggie treat bags to give out to the four legged tots.
