I apologize in advance if this is old news...but it was new to me!
Wandering around my Big Lots yesterday...they STILL have not put all their halloween stuff out! But they did have in the lighting section the blacklight fluorescents for $4 (same price as Party city so I snagged a few) but they also had the red, orange and green "party bulbs" that were fluorescents. I just bought a green one and was amazed when i tried it out in my bathroom...the color was awesome and not too glaring. I am so going back for more! If you go looking remember lighting/hardware section...not halloween!

Cool!
I've been eyeing those for a year at Home Depot. I will get them at BL's because they are cheaper!
Thanks!!!

Thanks for the heads up. I could only find them at our Walmart and Walgreens. CFLs are what I use for most of my haunt.

Thanks so much for the tip. Do you think these would work in flood lights?
halloween is a super cool holiday.

I found the green ones today when I was roaming through Big Lots. I didn't buy any because I was going to ask you guys about them. Gee, now my HF friends are even anticpating my questions and giving me answers before I ask. LOL
How bright are they? In a bathroom would I need to have one in all my vanity lights? I have two sinks and two light fixtures over each one. Each fixture has four bulbs. I would like to use something like this in the room that will be a spider room. I'm thinking the green might be good in there.

This is lit with two of these blacklight bulbs in flood light stakes: http://www.halloweenforum.com/member...ed-better.html
It is treated with RIT Whitener, however, the picture was also taken in the dark with my terribly crappy cellphone camera, so that should speak for how good the lights are. You can see the garden wall at the bottom right of the picture is also glowing from the lights, and they're much closer to the ghost than to the wall.

I've been using these kinds of lights (orange bulbs) as our porch lights for the last couple of years, and they do a great job of giving off a nice, eerie glow. I bought those bulbs, at the time, from Walgreen's, but YMMV as far as availability and colors go. I think I'll head to Big Lots tomorrow and pick up a few extra bulbs. I might try a few in the graveyard this year, as I have made light cover boxes to protect the bulbs from weather elements.
